View Full Version : With all that happened, should the Raptors have traded for Kawhi last year?

They got Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green from a trade that involved Demar Derozan and fillers, and they both left after one year. In retrospect, would you have done this trade if you were Raptors GM. One year rental for a chance of contending for NBA title, seems too big a price to pay. Now they can only hope to rebuild with talent-less rosters, they would've been regular top 3 teams in the East had they stick with Derozan.

They won a ring, I think it's worth it. Teams spend years building for just a shot at a ring, and most fail.
This team can still make the playoffs as is, but I think they should trade Lowry and Gasol by the deadline.

A title was worth it.
Being lottery bound for the next 5 years is worth more than being 2nd round playoff fodder for those same years if they got a title out of it.

Correction: One year rental for a NBA title

People say THE dumbest shit on this board :oldlol:
This dude is legitimately arguing they should've stayed a treadmill team with DeRozan getting embarrassed in the playoffs year after year instead of winning a title with Kawhi

Yeah but now what? They have lost Kawhi aftee barely one year, despite all the kind things they have done for him and all the nice things they've enjoyed together this season. Its like all the efforts and hearts are worth nothing at all. I aint sure if I would take it if I were a Raptors fan.

Celtics
Lakers
76ers
Pistons
Bulls
Rockets
Spurs
Cavs
Warriors
Heat
Mavs
You can add the Raps to the list now.
Those are the championship cities for the last like 40 years of basketball.
This question is simple. If you guaranteed I would win a title trading for Kawhi knowing he leaves and were in rebuild mode, you do it.
Winning it all is a legacy. No matter what happens, nobody will ever forget the 2019 Raptors because they ended a dyntasy and it's the first one in team history. They're the ****ing champs, the trophy is in another country. Historic achievement
