No excuses at all honestly.

If he starts playing defense I see no reasons why this Laker team cannot win the championship.

Barring injury, the only reasons this team would struggle is if Lebron is gonna be lazy on the defensive end.

Rondo great defender
Danny Green great defender
AD elite defender

Lebron needs to step up and I see no reason why they could not have the greatest defensive starting 5 in the league behind maybe the Clippers

And don’t give me that bullshit about his age. He is still one of the best athletes in the league.

He was the 7th best defensive SF last year according to DRPM

He was already playing defense

That bullshit about his age?

Age dramatically impacts endurance.

If you think LeBron can carry on offense and try hard on defense, then no.

Jordan was probably the last perimeter player we saw that was able to be really good on offense and defense at 35 years old...

LeBron is not a high effort defender any more. Those days are over. He uses his smarts to play defense, and his defense is massively underrated, but the days of him being an elite defender are gone.

He does not need to carry an offense anymore.

AD can be the main scorer as he has show he can do.

Lebron is also every bit of the athlete Jordan was so no reason he cannot lut effort on defense the coming season.

LoL at that dude above calling Rondo trash. Dude has more heart than anybody on that team. Expected from a box score and highlight watcher

AD can't score without being spoon-fed. Lebron will still have to work to penetrate. No load management if he continues to play 35mpg doing that.

Nope. I watched most of the Lakers games last season. Rondo is pure trash. It's comedic gold. Wake up, it's not 2008 anymore.

during the season, this holds true.

but in the playoffs, he turns the "switch" on. i fully expect him to play good defense in the playoffs. when you see 3ball melting down in the playoffs next year, you'll know LeBron is back to his usual self.

Rondo is purely playoff type.

Regular season rondo is a frustration

lebron doesnt need to carry the offense with an MVP candidate level teammate..

are you serious?

OP's point is dead on this guy is still an elite athlete no question. Hes got karl malone esque durability and has never had a major injury or surgery in his entire career.

There's no excuse for prioritizing gaudy offensive numbers over defense when its been getting his teams hosed for years now.

Spot on.

Lebron at 34 is still one of the best athletes in the league.

Its time to leave the offense on AD and take care on the defensive end

AT 35 MJ had played about 15 k minutes less than Lebron has as of now.. HUGE difference.

LeBron never played with a good rim protector...

folks don't even realize how much easier it is to play good defense with somebody like AD patrolling the paint instead of the likes of Kevin Love:banana:

There is no if. Bron stopped playing legit D years ago. He is not going to change his spots. He is a guy who conserves energy for offense. 1 way player for most of his career. D is about desire. He doesn't have it.
