rookie season averages (WITHOUT A PG OR A COMPETENT COACH):
16.3PPG
10.3 RBND
1 STEAL
1 BLOCK
58.5% FG

AGAIN, the euro head coach had no idea how to draw a play for big men, and the g-leauge point guards had no idea how to feed him. he averaged 16pts on cleaning up boards. there was a game where he dropped 24 POINTS (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PiHkCOf3gwI) in a SINGLE QUARTER.

DEFENSE: he started out very raw. towards the end of the season however, he improved significantly to where he wasn't a liability. he had a clutch defensive game against the magic where he put the clamps on late in the 4th quarter to secure the W: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5iF5PgyM-8U

his perimeter defense is really good tho. he is very light on his feet.

we have rubio now so I expect a very big season for him.

in my opinion, one of his best games was against the bucks (we won). he showed great footwork, made some shots, but the most important of all: he played LOCKDOWN defense: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMDP1_uD1cI

no point guard. Booker injured for 20 games. bunch of rookies on the team. rookie coach that drew no plays for him. yikes.

but feel free to watch his highlights against orlando or the bucks, he displayed great defense.

In the last 20 years the only traditional big man center worth a number pick is Dwight Howard, AD, Kat and Embiid can shoot decent enough to keep defenders honest. Ayton is no exception. He'll be a nice piece on a team but he shouldn't have gone number one. Especially since he better be a hell of a defender if he can't shoot but he's not even that.

Jahlil Okafor was a 19 year old rookie that wasn't a great defender on a bad team too that got 17.5/7 on 51%. 4 years later he isn't exactly tearing up the league.

for the record, I really wanted Luka but the Suns owner went to UofA where Ayton played so he had that connection.

Anyhow, I have been pleasantly surprised. He started out as quite possibly the worst defender ever at Center. As the months went on, he began picking up small things, i.e, playing good perimeter defense. LeBron couldn't drive it against him in a game. then towards the end of the season, he has more glimpses, this time they were very impactful. His defense alone won us a game against Orlando, he held them scoreless for the last couple of minutes. Then we have his display of defense against a full strength Bucks...he blocked the sh1t out of Bledsoe and Middleton on blow defensive coverages. That was essentially his weakeness, help defense and rim protection. Of course, it doesn't help that the team has sh1tty defenders. Even Rudy Gobert wouldn't be able to make up for the Suns defense on the perimeter.

Watch this video and tell me he doesn't have potential to be one of the top centers in the nba: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMDP1_uD1cI

Ayton is one of my favourite players in the league.

So good inside, and you really just need to feed him and he can do it himself. Suns were stupid not passing the ball more to him, but at the same time, I'm not sure they were exactly trying to win games. People acting as if Booker has no help, but I dare say Ayton will be best player on the team by next season.

Ayton is a dub/dub beast.
