Could you post links of these laptops please? I'm also in the market for a laptop, my old one doesn't turn on anymore so all I'm left with is my work desktop and (in about a month) a work laptop. The $550 one looks like a solid home laptop for what I want to do on it, but for me backlite keyboard is huge.

With the info you shared alone, I'd say option #2 is better if you can do with the lower amount of harddrive space. I've heard nothing but good things about Ryzen 5, while people have been complaining about the latest generation of intel.

But yeah, please share the links.

Laptop 2 seems to be the better purchase. I would think it was on sale. Display quality is important so check that as well.

this. If you are just using it for word processing, internet, day to day sh*t, office sh*t, go with the apple. With the exception of battery life all my macs work like new as they age.

If you want something you can play games on get the PC.

I'm just flat out not a mac guy. I do my professional work all on a windows computer and have been using windows for everything in my life, from school to just casual use.

I'm in no way saying my selection is superior, only saying what my preferences are.

What's the resolution on those screens? Are they both 2-in-1s with touch screens?

OP asked opinions on option A or B, and people can't even make a selection between those two. They just have to sell you on what you should get outside those choices. :oldlol:

Anyway, it's hard to say which laptop is worth more because something that comes into play on price is fit and finish. IF you base if strictly off specs, the one with the i5-8265u is effectively 21% faster than the Ryzen. Also the MX250 is slightly more powerful than the Radeon by about 3-4% in most categories.

Whats its purpose btw? If youre just doing basic things like documents, emails, browing etc then id take laptop 2. You can spend the remaining 220 on some other useful things.

Just get a chromebook. You can still have access to stuff like microsoft word as an add on.

I have heard good things about the AMD Ryzen processors but I would still go with the Core i5 Intel processor. They are proven to be good processors. Though the screen is a little smaller on the Intel processor one, you get double the SSD size.

This. I've given up on PCs and while I use a Mac at work, I don't care to pay so much just to feel cool as I surf the web. I realized when I come home, I just want my internet to be ready quick and portable. Not to mention the android apps I can install on it.
