Nets and Boston will be fine and be in contention. 76ers might regress

It's pretty wide open, even teams like the Hawks/Heat/Magic might be able to get significantly better.

That feeling when you know in July, that you're gonna be in the conference finals no matter what.... https://media1.tenor.com/images/e3f723375b65faae8d84aa115a05d5f8/tenor.gif

something that 90% of this site who roots for an NBA team will nevvvvvvvvvvvva know nothin' about

The Raptors might still be a 50 win team.

In fact, if they aren't, it's because they lost both Kawhi AND Danny Green AND championship hangover. That is still a really good team, just no longer a title contender.

Kawhi isn't a 20 win swing guy. There are only a handful of those in NBA history. He's probably a 10 win swing guy. It's close.

Also... Boston upgraded at their PG position on chemistry alone. If the Celtics regress it'll be because they lost Morris and Horford and got nothing in return. Kyrie's departure is meaningless.

Kyrie can definitely close out games like few in the NBA just because of his psychological approach and absolutely cool demeanor, but... I've never seen a guy confuse so many people into making them think he's a huge difference maker in the regular season and quarters 1 through 3.5 of any given game.

Embiid is by far their best and most important player, but you do realize they added Redick and Simmons that year also, right?

Embiid might get to 20 win impact territory, and he might do it this year... I think his ceiling is for sure higher than what Kawhi has shown, no question, but he's not there yet.

For what it's worth, I think the Raptors went 17 and 5 in the regular season last year without Kawhi.

That was with Danny Green, however.

LMAO Raptors has been a very good regular season team for years. Kawhi was brought for playoffs and you know it. He is the best playoff player easily at the moment.

Hey for the record this thread is about the East next year and OP is insinuating that they are now bordering on being irrelevant dog shit without Kawhi, to which I am disagreeing. No, they can’t win a title but they will be a good team.

The Celtics will be fine. Brad carried a 5'8 PG to the conference finals with LeBron in the East. Celtics will make another deep run this season.

Pacers are actually looking pretty good. Definitely better than Toronto, Boston, and Brooklyn.

oladipo will come back and that'll more than make up bojan. They upgraded at pg from collison to brogdan. Lambs not a bad stopgap for oladipo and likely better than matthews. Warren's a dropooff from bojan but 2/3 is good. I wouldnt predict 50 wins but it's doable.

I think horford was crucial to boston however, really banking on better chemistry there. Toronto losing two starters without replacing them hurts, really banking on og's development

East is gonna be fine. Philly and Mil are still title contenders. Indy, Tor, Bos, Bkn, Miami will all be good, possible threats to make the Finals (just not win them...unless Boston exceeds expectations).

I'm pretty big on the Pacers too. Tho I'm also big on Boston. I think ppl are sleeping on them too hard. No Kyrie is GOOD for them. No Horford hurts, but the team dynamic is gonna shift anyway w/ Tatum as the #1 guy, Kemba running the show, etc.
