The players aren't loyal and the teams aren't loyal either. Nobody is. The game progressively has proven to have less and less "heart", if you will, over the years.

There are multiple reasons and it's never easy to point to one thing but, the two biggest, imo, are...

Money

Legacy (players are connected to fans and media opinions more than ever hence the colluding)
