View Full Version : Broussard & Cowherd: 76ers should trade Simmons for Paul

Reason given is that Simmons doesn't work for Philly with current lineup but he would on OKC where Presti could build around him with shooters.
OKC would trade Paul and some picks for Simmons.

Why would Philly do this when they basically had a better version of Chris Paul already and they just let him walk for 7M?

Chris Paul does not have as much trade value as Ben Simmons, especially given their contracts.

Toward the end, Broussard says they Thunder could include Schroeder in the deal.
Not sure how Philly has the cap space anyway, nor how many of those picks OKC just stockpiled they would ask for.

OKC won't unload the picks just to move Paul, that doesn't even make sense.
And if they throw in Schroeder, they REALLY can't make the money work.
This is never going to happen. Ever.

But getting Simmons back would be a nice building block. I'm sure OKC fans would be pretty stoked.
But this is complete BS. No way Philly trades Simmons, right? Except this offseason is crazy, so who knows.

It's literally not possible.

if philly trades simmons, it's gotta be for someone at least as good as jrue and they want a pick back in that case too. cp3 at his contract isnt even worth a discussion.

Don't ever listen to Broussard.
The Sixers don't have enough money to match Paul...let alone Paul and another 15 million.

Would it be possible if OKC buys Paul out?
I don't know why they would, but if Presti could sell the owner on getting Simmons to keep fans in the seats, then possibly?

No, if OKC buys Paul out, he can go anywhere he wants.
And I'm not even sure a wink wink deal like that is even allowed, assuming Paul WANTED to cooperate.

Sure if you throw in 2 1st round picks to take on that awful contract.
You can keep Schroeder btw :oldlol:

Yes. They would have to add picks and tithe sixers could use those picks to try to get another asset down the line

Not even possible until the theoretical contract extension begins for Simmons next season.
If the Sixers for some reason are that adamant that Simmons can't work with the team then they'd be better off trading him to the Clippers or something.

No ****in way Broussard said this. I refuse to believe it. Cowherd is borderline retarded so I can see him saying this.

If Embiid gets injured, Philly's left with an old cancer CP3 :oldlol: :oldlol:
From being a contender for the next 10 years to "we need to start from scratch again" in an instant :oldlol:

Ben just needs to get a consistent jump shot. Once he does that he's immediately one of the best players in the league.
No way you make that trade.

You can't even make that trade as the numbers don't work.

It makes a lot of sense.
I've said for a long time, that either Embiid or Simmons need to be traded.

Sure, but the dude is beyond bad outside of ten feet. His shot is non-existent from range. He's a starting PG in the 3 point analytics era, and he makes Westbrook look like Curry.
He has never made a three point shot. He almost never takes them. And the 76ers are betting on him for the long run, when they just lost their best shooters.
I wouldn't make the trade either, and it would be shocking if the 76ers did. But you have to wonder how the Philly experiment works out over the next five years.
