Easily the dumbest thing I’ve personally heard come out of Jalen’s mouth.

That ship has sailed. If Westbrook didn't turn into a superstar, if Durant didn't already lose one season to injury, if Durant didn't go team up with two other 20+ scorers, and if he didn't lose another full year to the Achilles, then he could've been on track. He easily could've had multiple 33-35 ppg seasons.

But just goes to show how hard it is to top that record. Even missing just one season pretty much took him out of the running; throw in him losing about 5ppg per year due to playing with Westbrook and Curry and he doesn't stand a chance anymore. And all of this is just assuming he'll come back the same player post-Achilles.

Nope, LeBron will. Give it 3-4 more seasons

Durant is currently at 22,940 career points accross 12 seasons. He's currently 30 years old. Over the course of those 12 years he averaged 1912 points per season.

The all-time record currently is Jabber at 38,387.

He is currently 15,447 points away.

So let's say hypothetically he played until he was 40 years old. Which he probably won't. Most NBA superstars drafted early in their careers at a young age don't play until 40...

...One of those seasons he's not even going to play (2019-2020). So he's got 9 seasons to do this. He'd have to average 1716 points per season for 9 years to do it. And that's assuming LeBron doesn't break the record and make it higher.

Durant will finish somewhere between 30,000 to 35,000 probably by the time his career ends in my opinion. I don't think it's possible for him to come back from an achilles injury and be just as good as he is now. He'll be good, but not as good. Plus you'll Kyrie who is still just entering the middle of his prime that is going to take shots away from him.
