Name some underrated NBA role players.
Guys who weren't stars, yet consistently made a real impact.
And, of course, mention something about what actual skills they have. What they're good at.

Robert Covington. Typical 3 and D on the surface but he plays help defense like a big.

Sean Livingston. Came back from injury with surprising handles, athleticism, and durability. He had a great mid range and post up game in an era that's almost forgotten about it.

Hmm is he underrated tho.
I know he missed most of last season with injury but he made the all-defense first team the year before. He has been appropriately decorated.

Jason Terry. Maybe some people don't consider him underrated, but he was never an All-Star or All NBA Team member. Mavs wouldnt have won without him and I admire his confidence when he got that tattoo before the finals.

It is sad to see all of Hinkies soldiers gone. Thybulle is gonna be a player tho. Covington Jr.
TJ McConnell. Boston's worst nightmare.
Are you going to restart the TJ McConnell club after the great Insidehoops deletion fire of '18?

No one mentions Otis Thorpe. The dude was a better defender and inside player than Horace Grant (although Grant was better offensively and could hit outside shots).

Derrick Mckey at 6'10" was a do it all forward who made all defense teams. Not remembered as much because was not a big time scorer but was the teams best defender and secondary playmaker when healthy and was an integral part of those mid 90s Pacers teams.

Currently?
Montrezl Harrell and Danillo Galinari are very underrated.
Both very good at their roles, unselfish, and very efficient.
Galinari put up 20/6/2.5 on 63.3%TS
Harrell put up 17/6.5/2 on 63.6%TS

Jalen Brunson looks great on the Mavs. I was surprised I didn't hear more about him during the season. I bet he becomes a long term glue guy next to Doncic, since he can defend point guards but has a good off guard game and seems really professional
Joe Ingles probably isn't underrated anymore.
Mason Plumlee is a lot better than most people seem to think. He's fit in well as a backup/makeshift Jokic
Jerami Grant and Steven Adams
Some other Nuggets too, Monte Morris, Malik Beasley, Torrey Craig
Patty Mills
Terrence Ross averaged 15ppg last year
Another ex-Spur Jonathan Simmons must find himself on a team next year. Rumours say Houston which would make sense. I wonder what happened to him after he left SA.
Zach Collins was getting some buzz in the playoffs and he's well on his way to breaking out.
Enes Kanter is definitely underrated at this point
Kelly Olynyk is a maestro
Tyler Johnson
Joe Harris
I just went through a bunch of team rosters and those are the names that stuck out

Jon Simmons is trash. I had stupidly high expectations when the Sixers traded for him. People obviously over hyped him big time. Then Brand traded him away with a pick for nothing.
He is not underrated at all. I can't see him in the league for much longer.

Lots of guys have one good year on the Spurs and are never heard from again. Others have a good year on the Spurs, disappear for a while, then have another good year somewhere else. Simmons is 29 and averaged 14 only two years ago. He might still have something in him playing for a new contract.

Can they win without him is the question. Yet to show they can.
The advanced numbers put him as one of the best players in the game. Best defensive player and one of the top rated offensive players as well. He single handedly keeps the Jazz from being one of the worst teams in the league. He's actually more like a top 5-10 player

Watch him this year with Conley and Bojan. No stopping them.
So your list is all about scoring points I take it?:D

They were tanking when he emerged. They were the 6th best team in the league after they traded Kanter and put him in the starting lineup. Yet to show they can win without him

He made absolutely no impact but I still want to say Walter Herrmann. He and Rudy Fernandez were some of my favorite "Nobody gives a shit" internationals.
