His numbers greatly exagerate his impact.

He's actually quite a lot like Minnesota Love.

Hell no he hasn't only shown 40% of his talent. What an utterly lacking in self awareness clown.

Agreed...but given his age, he still has time to make his game impactful.

I dont think hes a scrub by any means necessary, I do believe he is overrated though.

I don't think Thibs kept him from playing decent defense so he must be referring to the other side of the floor only

He's similar to Cousins and AD as first options in that their stats don't even come close to their overall lack of true impact.

He should put more effort and focus into defense. That said this quote is being taken too seriously here. Players are supposed to be confident, and he's expressing confidence in himself. He's not guaranteeing a 50 and 20 season.

To be fair in several of those clips if he were playing with 80s or 90s guards hed have gotten the ball in better position because people these days don

He's talented and has a whole bunch of moves. But his impact is prob not even more than someone like Porzingis.

Just look at this.

https://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/MIN/2019.html

Butler you can throw out since he played only 10 games and Covington only played 22. Taj and Dieng are the only positive ones and barely at that. Towns isn't as impactful like Jokic, Embiid but his impact is vastly underrated when you realize how bad the entire team around him is.

As for the low post comments, here's where he ranks in percentile since his rookie year:

74%
86.3%
85.8%
73.5%

Despite some clips of him looking silly he is actually a good/great low post player.

The thing is, Towns himself doesn't know the best position to be in. Shaq goes red in the face trying to tell these young kids to run down the middle and sit down in the low post.

Also Towns' post ups are so soft wtf :oldlol:

Yea I wont dispute that. He doesnt know how to handle himself. And its not just being weak. He isnt really skinny. Kevin Mchale was like 225 and could get where he wanted vs bulky bigs and great athletes. KAT(like most modern bigs) doesnt fight for position enough before the catch. Doesnt hold his position when he gets it.....the defender cant just shove you off your spot if you hold your ground. But he gets pushed a little and will acquiesce and just move. Add that to nobody being used to getting the ball to post bigs anymore and its a tough situation.

If he had Dennis Johnson and Bird.....or Avery Johnson and Sean Elliot....or John Starks/Anthony Mason/Derek Harper....hed score more just off timing.

He had the guy right where he needed him several times in those clips and the ball didnt come till he was several feet off his hard earned spot. Guards arent comfortable passing into a big who isnt giving them a perfect window....but you only get a perfect comfortable window when the defender isnt trying to keep you from getting it.

Hard environment for a big to grow up in.

Looks like a base strength problem. Need to lock his ass in a room with a squat rack and do nothing but squats and core work for a summer.

KAT is stud playing on team wasting his talent but he is not even in his prime yet which tells u something considering he is already a top 3 offensive center in NBA and top 5 rebounder.
