I applied for a state job in May, took the exam scored a 97 and then was contacted for a interview in Late June. I received a conditional offer on 7/5 depending on a successful background check. The HR lady said it takes up to 4 weeks on 7/8. So I am guessing i should have something before August. She said I will be contacted by phone or email. My guess is phone for a successful background check and email for a negative background check LOL

But this job would be $16,000 more a year, great health benefits and eligible for retirement after 10 years of service.

I am getting so inpatient because they told me the salary in the conditional offer and that would be the most money I ever made in my life. I can't take anymore............Some please contact me lol

I always made $39,00 and under my whole working life. That is what I make now at my current job and trying to get the f*ck out of there and hand in my resignation

I wish you the best of luck. I know nothing about you, but you seem to be a humble, hard-working man who just wants a better life. Godspeed

Call them back every day until they have an answer. It shows persistence and drive.

Develop a second option. Use your nervous energy and try for an even better job. Otherwise, you are really setting yourself up to be crushed. Use the confidence and good vibe you have and go out there and expand your options. This type of thing can fall apart so don't bank on it working out. I am older and wise....listen to me.

I got the job just waiting for the background check to be complete. I already took the test, passed, had the interview and provided all the documents they asked for, copy of degree, paystubs from previous employer and proof of residence. Now just waiting for the final phase to be complete.

It's like 1st and goal on the 3rd yd line with 1:34 left

2 Men on base, 2nd and 3rd, 0 Outs bottom of the 9th

6 point lead in a NBA game with the ball and 1:34 left

LOL

Good luck bro. I'm in the same position for law enforcement. Except the process I'm in takes over a year and the pay raise would be roughly 20k more. I just try to live my life without thinking about it but its so tough. I've passed all the stages, just waiting on an extensive background check (they check mine, my families, girlfriends etc.) so it takes a while. So hey... it could be worse. It could be a year wait lmfao.

That's probably the worst advice you've given in a while. Don't do this, no one wants to work with someone who is annoying lol.

Congrats bro, wish you the best with this new job. How old are you btw? What is the position title and industry?

Jeez man, congrats on the master degree. And keep working, one thing I've learned in my very short time in corporate America is that experience is king.

Degree's are great and will absolutely help you, but they are NOTHING without experience. It's not even funny lol.

My friend is still in school, hasn't even finished his bachelor's in EE, yet already has a $75k job offer on the table due to his 2 years of interning experience.

I on the other hand graduated in August with 0 experience under my belt, settled for a job earning $15 bucks an hour for 5 months until I had SOME KIND of experience and was able to land my current job where I am at the moment content with my salary as an entry level person (roughly $51k, slightly below).

Hundo p agree with that. Experience is key. Degree is just going to help me get ahead of the same guys applying for the position I want and it'll help me big time for promotions but right now its all about experience.

Physically active? I truly hope so. Gotta get you in shape before they start moving you from shelter to shelter. It would be easier to do with a car, but at least you're fit! Walking 5 miles ain't a thang for you baby, keep it up.
