I saw Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, the new Quentin Tarantino movie, and won't even discuss the movie yet because there's a good chance 99% of people haven't seen it yet, but I will say it was... special, in a way where I think people will either REALLY like it or have it do absolutely nothing for them, with no real in-between. I don't think anyone will "hate" it. I think people will either LOVE It, or... just feel nothing for it.

You'll see what I mean.

Watching it on Thursday, all his post-Death Proof (his worst) movies have been his best. Will be a blast.

I wish it... continued.

Good movie.

I really liked Leo's character funny af.

Pitt is the same exact guy he is in every movie...the cool guy.

Tarantino threw his hard twist on the real life events.

Saw it early Sunday morning. I loved it. Without getting super into details.

It's got a bit of a pacing problem. But honestly one of my favorite things about it is the world building aspect, which isn't really something Tarantino is particularly known for, as a lot of his stuff could almost play as stage production, with a few major exceptions, like Django and Pulp.

As has been said, I could've spent more time with the characters. And for me as much for me just in that world. I loved the in the studio stuff. And I loved the Hollywood scene Cliff got to roam around in while Rick was working. Especially liked the Spahn ranch stuff and could've seen a lot more of that.

All of that moseying around in those places just made the last act feel like it moved super fast, which is odd to say of a nearly 3 hour movie. And that's not uncommon of Tarantino's stuff, and I'm certain much of that was by design, but it didn't have those punches of accelerated moments that sort of hint at the accelerated ending, like the Mia being revived with the adrenaline spike, for example.

I have heard some people hate it. People with larger issues with the pacing. People with issues with QTs bending of a real life setting with a fictional narrative within it, which he's done before, and I'd say better before, and which I felt like was firmly foreshadowed by Rick's movie montage. I know some people have taken issue with the questionable character of Cliff and Rick after they've been put in a hero light in the last act. That to me is probably the most accurate criticism, mostly because of one point about Cliff, which to me didn't seem to be necessary.

Loved it. Some pacing issues

Polanski initially thought Bruce Lee was the killer

In 1969, Bruce Lee — made famous a few years before for the TV show “The Green Hornet” — was Hollywood’s martial-arts instructor of choice. Roman Polanski, Steve McQueen and celebrity hairdresser Jay Sebring were his students. Lee even tutored It-girl Sharon Tate for her movie “The Wrecking Crew.”

But that summer, the actor, then 29, played a shocking role: Polanski briefly considered him a suspect in the murders of Tate, Sebring and others — killings eventually tied to Charles Manson and his followers.https://nypost.com/2019/07/20/heres-why-roman-polanski-thought-bruce-lee-killed-sharon-tate/

It was enjoyable, but the lack of plot was kind of annoying to me. Charles Manson only had 1 scene in the entire film was also a downer. The last hour of the film was great. Pitt's fight with Bruce Lee and him visiting the Spahn Ranch were probably my favorite scenes.

In the end I rank Once upon a time slightly behind Inglourious Basterds & Django.

I rate it higher than Django and slightly under Inglorious Basterds.
