Just wondering which (regular) posters are the most accomplished in these sports:

Basketball
Football
Track (short distance particularly)
MMA
Tennis
Boxing
Hockey

Rattle off some other sports if you know any

List the highest level you've achieved

I think Thorpe accomplished the most at basketball? DI starter for a bigger college?

I won a few NAGA tourneys at my weight class. I assume there are better grapplers on here though so I won't claim it.

That's all I got.

D-1 SG, Missouri Valley Conference

If we include people who just check in once or twice a month,
I'm sure we have a few NBA players here, a few foreign pros, or D-1 from the premier conferences.

No professional fights like my Bellator cousin, but I did spar regularly with Matt Mitrione and Patrick Barry (kickboxing not MMA). And held my own for the most part (although Mitrione is a ridiculously strong bully when he can close the distance)

Was too vain to ever be a mediocre professional with cauliflower ears like cuzo had to get drained ... many times.

3ball does not have the mental capacity to play competitive sports. Anyone that narrow minded and obsessed cannot play a sport that takes elite level mental focus and intelligence.

More of a mathlete here

Won free throw contest in middle school. :oldlol: :oldlol:
Did like 85% of a mile in 5 minutes while fasting--did like 8.2 miles also while fasting
Got up to a 400-something deadlift @ 165 lbs 5'11"
>20 chinups

Obviously nothing compared to the studs on ISH.

He's relentless, he's competitive, he's focused, will stop at nothing to win. Sounds like good traits to have in competitive sports. He's also tall.

I have friends that played D2 basketball here in Florida, crazy that's all they made it to because when we play with them, you'd think these guys are professionals the way they dominate.

A lot of high school friends/colleagues that went on to play D1 football, but that's expected for Florida high schools...I think only Texas and Cali generate as much football talent as we do. One of the kids I went to school with from 6th grade all the way through high school, he's now a DE for the Buffalo Bills. Didn't play much last season, but good for him man it's ****ing awesome that he made it. This kid I knew but wasn't really friends with got drafted to the Rays, but way deep...idk how the baseball drafts work since they have like 30 ****ing rounds.

I wish I would have focused more on sports. I was a nice basketball player, still have a wet jumper and handles to this day, but I never played in highschool because I'd rather play soccer with my euro buddies on our club team...stupid decision considering I wasn't very good at soccer at all lol. It was fun, we got to travel the south east portion of the US playing in tournys and shit, have good memories of it...but I'm a basketball junky. Should have played that competitively rather than soccer.

I don't think I would have made it far in bball either, but had I taken that shit seriously and went to practices like I did for soccer (again, idiot) maybe I could have rocked some D3 ball lol. It is what it is...

I hate thinking about that shit bro :oldlol:

In my head, I convince myself that had I focused on sports every single day instead of wasting time hanging out, smoking weed...partying, trying to get with girls, I convince myself that I could have done it.

But that's such a dumb thing to think about. Yes, people do make it, but the LARGE majority of people never do anything in their respective sports. I know countless people who grinded every single day in their sport, always skipped events and shit just to go to this tourny and that practice whatever...and now they are doing the same shit as me, graduated college and working a regular 9-5 (in my case, 730-4). Or they never even went to college and are just doing a trade (not that it's a bad thing, but like college it's a regular thing).

So while I feel regret for not pursuing a sport, imagine how those people feel who pursued their sport, gave it their all and still didn't make it anywhere with it. They might regret not doing what I did lol. Grass is always greener, I suppose.

One take I have is they probably don't regret it, because it was probably really fun and rewarding. It feels good to work hard and be part of a team. Plus they don't have the regret you have of "not knowing". They tried and failed, so at least they know.

Other take... you should never waste time with regret, not just because it doesn't help or because you can't change it, but because you weren't that person. Like... if you were busy partying and socializing, etc., then that's who you really were... not some obsessed athlete. I can relate on a different level... I was lazy as **** in high school when it came to school work. Didn't care about school at all. Was totally concerned with music, friends, drugs, etc... I got a 1500 on the SAT. Had I applied myself in classes, I could have gotten academic scholarships to so many great schools. It sucks to think about, and I have had to realize that it just is not who I was. I wasn't ready for it. For whatever reason I had other things I was supposed to experience instead. Somehow you learned other lessons than your friends. Just gotta embrace it.

I agree with you, that's why I say I hate thinking about it. It leads to regret, but I'm conscious enough to shake it off and be like "wait, wtf am I talking about" lol.

Similar to you, I did not give a SINGLE **** about school work in high school. I missed so much class, literally skipped 400ish periods my senior year (7 periods per day, 5 days a week...roughly 1100 periods per year. basically missed half the school year skipping with friends). Truancy letters to my house on a monthly basis, my mom thought I wouldn't graduate.

But I knew that high school education wasn't shit. I wasn't a 3.5gpa student to get a grant, I wasn't excelling in sports to get a scholorship...so I knew I was going to spend my first 2 years at a community college. Why not make the most of it and **** around while it still did not matter?

Graduated high school with a 2.3 gpa, got my AA in 3 years (was doing engineering pre reqs before I switched to MIS in my undergraduate...still not really caring too much) and got into one of the best schools in Florida to get my Bachelors in 2 years flat with a solid 3.2gpa. I use directly what I learned in school at my current DBA job, so it was well worth it.

The reason I was able to go to such a good school is because Florida has this 2+2 program where if you get an AA from a local CC, you 100% get accepted into public state uni's like UF, USF, FSU, UCF etc. And with the help of good old FAFSA, I was able to go to school and it did not cost me a dime (except for the first year, while my dad was getting paid salary before he opened up his own business and an LLC). Income based grants, imo one of the best things we have available to students who aren't backed by mega rich parents.

bro I get that feeling from time to time lol. I was raised playing baseball, I actually got some state recognition once and I never did anything with it cause I played for a garbage team lost the love for the game.

Basketball? Man I picked that shit up too late, by the time I was comfortable dribbling a ball I had to try out to the freshman team and I was one of the smallest guys. I was good enough to play a lot of JV games, but I honestly gave up cause in my head I was never going to be big enough to play. Dropped it for swimming the year after and suddenly i'm 5'10 my junior year. Too late in my head to do anything with it

Football though I knew I wasn't ever doing shit with it lol. I was a speedster only until my junior year where my body finally took an athletic form. Still the guys who actually went to play college ball were defensive beast, and I was just an offense guy who was a back up corner.

Now I'm stuck as an accountant for an insurance company, making good money but man do I really wish I could go back and stayed focused in sports

Won a conference championship senior year with the baseball team, and we almost won sectionals but sadly lost in the finals 3-2 I believe. I also wrestled for a year but I wasn't very good, mostly just joined to lose weight tbh
