I thought I heard this described as basically Heart of Darkness in space.

Yeah it's about a guy that's tasked with taking a boat on a river deep into the Congo to investigate a rogue colleague who's gone batshit insane. Apocalypse Now is based on it.

Ever see Sunshine?

It was a pretty cool space horror flick that flew under the radar in 2007

Life with Gyllenhaal in 2017 was pretty good as well

Sunshine was dope, very intense too.

Love space flicks. Interstellar is a masterpiece, but i like Prometheus and covenant as well. Wish they focused more on the origin of the first species...they tease us then gloss over the most intriguing part of the story.

My gripe with the new Alien movies comes down to how monumentally stupid the characters are. It makes the deaths less thrilling and more contrived and too predictable. Like the one where the guy sticks his head over the cocoon of one of the aliens because the (obviously evil) Android told him to? Don't even wanna talk about the 2 women who trip over their own blood and blew themselves up

I suppose it's meant to be funny in that sense but it seemed almost parody-like. Cool movies otherwise

I like to think of Life as a backdoor Venom prequel

The ending to Life was so wicked, the sound effects when those fishermen find him. :biggums:

+1

The way the people die in these movies is so ridiculous, for instance the biology specialist petting the worm like a dog and then dying. At that point I'm hoping these characters die, also that slipping part or doing dumb things. Hate the movies because of this.

A lot of Alien critics don't like the newer Prometheus/Covenant, but I love em.

All that deep humanity lore, where we came from, etc. I'm glad it's been pulled in that direction and hyped to see Fassbender do his thing in the next one

Just curious, did you confuse Pandorum for Prometheus?

I was referring to this movie: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9q42L4XNVhQ

This movie has more of a Resident Evil vibe.

nah, I just spun off topic.

never saw Pandorum, but i've heard before it's got a underground cult following and pretty sick lore.
