You hear people talk like all he did was shoot 18 footers when for most of his career he had some of the most beautiful footwork* and faceup drives in the NBA. Yes his fadeaway was his go to....because it was virtually unblockable and he could always get it off. And many of them were beautiful too. Im not really here to argue anything or compare him to anyone...im just saying....guy had some smooth moves around the basket for a guy some people try to make out to be a poor around the basket player.

He had good footwork but it wasnt great, iirc. He wasnt really efficient in his movements

Not relative to Tim Duncan or some of the centers but KG was a tall forward who played some 3. Has to move a bit more to get where he

Deandre Ayton has better footwork already :lol

Poetry in motion.
As a big that plays rec, his ability to determine his pivot anchor based on the position of his defense is incredible.
The best analogy I can come up with ( a few beers deep) is it's the equivalent of skateboarding.
Skateboarding you ask, whats that got to do with basketball. Well imagine standing on a skateboard with your natural stance and doing a kick-flip down 10 stairs. You land the same way you started as its your preferred side, and what feels "natural."
No go do the same trick standing the opposite way, known in the skateboarding world as switch.
Garnetts footwork is the equivalent of being able to go both ways, ambidextrous pivot anchors at the drop of a hat based on the challenge.
Very impressive as it's initiative in real time.

Garnett was the best player in the league for a 2 to 3 year stretch... yet he never really gets discussed that much in that context. And as a result, he's easily the most underrated all time great from the 2000s.

If you truly want to appreciate Garnett's skills, just watch his defense. Savant on that end.

On offense he used his herky jerky movements incredibly efficiently both with his legs and his arms. They were always well synchronized with how he was moving on the court. Incredibly skilled player.

Kevin Garnett was never the best player in the world. He was never also never than Tim Duncan. Been a silly argument since early 2000s ISH. It's not numbers but playstyle and impact.

Exactly. A man who doesn't even know the rules of travelling and pivoting. But simply put, KG never had "great footwork". He was an athletic big with fantastic mobility rather than great mechanics.

Why was KG always so shook with game on the line?

Dude's legs turned to jelly if any kind of game-winner had to be attempted.

Kg hit quite a few game winners and had several game winning defensive plays too. People just choose to ignore them.

Media chose to ignore them because most of his prime and greatest days were in Minnesota where he won nothing. A small market grouped with under-performing in the playoffs isn't going to get you a ton of attention. Game winners or not.

Dude's legs turned to jelly if any kind of game-winner had to be attempted.Because he's a perpetually uncomfortable racist southern country bumpkin f@ggot who projects the opposite, since the days when he got sonned hard and threatened with death in a very real way, by Kings at farragut, hours after bullying a mexican, before Farragut was majority mexican, like it is now. Dude never said a word or looked at a mexican for the rest of his days at Farragut, after that day.

His foot work was nice, but I have zero respect for him as a human being, he is racist against latinos and whites (got kicked out of Carolina public school system for lynching a white kid). Son is not from Chicago, he is a bamma.

Even in boston though he was still making game winners. Shots. General plays. Whatever you wanted. He made all kinds of game winners....

He won plenty of games with clutch defensive stops, steals, or blocks.

I didnt even go into his big shots vs the Nuggets in the playoffs or the clutch shot in the playoffs where he had to turn to see the other baskets clock to see he was out of time then wet the turnaround. He was clutch v the Pistons.

This is hardly an exhaustive list of his big plays and game winners.

People watched it happen and legit feel like he didnt make big shots or step up.

Same people cant name more than 3 big shots from the whole careers of guys in the hall of fame.

KG made key plays all the time.

But you get shit like:

Why was KG always so shook with game on the line?

Dude's legs turned to jelly if any kind of game-winner had to be attempted.

Meanwhile.....

One of you name all the Allen Iverson game winners you remember.

Anyone feel he was shook of any shot ever?

Course not.

Run em down to me.

Think on it a minute.....

What you remember?

1? Maybe 2?

But KG supposedly is shook of taking the big shot when there are reels of him making big shots.

Its a totally fabricated but totally common opinion.

KG was making big shots at a decent rate....but his teams were not good. How many big game winners you remember Tmac making in Orlando?

Hard to hit the big shots in large numbers when your team doesnt put you in position to play many big games....or even be in many close matchups vs the kinds of opponents that make you legendary just for competing.

Guys on bad franchises only make so many huge shots because bad franchises dont put you in huge situations.

But he made his fair share all things considered.

Now just imagine if we didn't trade Ray Allen for Marbury....A prime Allen and prime KG would absolutely wreck the league in every way.
