On defense, you're still running and catching...
From what I saw in the game I watched, someone would catch the bee and then a guy would flail his arms trying to prevent a pass which never worked due to simple fakes. The defenders looked helpless and each team was scoring with ease.

All I saw was completed passes and whomever was closest to the guy who caught it, flailing their arms looking helpless as more passes were completed. The process kept repeating. Maybe I need to watch more games, but from what I saw, the defense on both sides looked helpless based on the rule set of the game.

I honestly thought everyone with even a semblance of a social life had played the game at least once. No offense.

I've never played it nor have I overheard anyone talking about playing it within my vast social circles. Never once heard it mentioned while balling or waiting on the side lines for the next game. Maybe it's a regional thing like curling?
Has anyone else ever played this? ISH?
I need to find out where in Ohio this shit is going down at so that I can play it.

You know what, it probably is a regional thing, and I bet it goes in and out of style too. When I was in high school in Bucks County, that shit was extremely popular. Wouldn't be surprised if it phased out a few years after, or was never big in your hometown.

Probably. Kind of like Bocce Ball and Croquet. :lol They sound lame as shit but are actually fun to play. Never having played ultimate frisbee I can say I would still prefer that over those other 2 options.

Ya, one offensive player surrounded by 4 defensive players and catching the rock each time and scoring. :lol

The most popular tech YouTuber MKBHD (Marques Brownlee) plays pro ultimate Frisbee. Dude is pretty athletic. I've played it, it's pretty fun and challenging.

I played on a club team for 4 years while in college, in upstate NY.
Very fun and challenging sport.
As far as the OP saying defense looked boring/pointless. I could see that being the case in perfect weather conditions with professional level players. As they say, good offense trumps good defense.
But factor in bad weather/the wind and you will have teams turning the frisbee over constantly. So defense is becoming offense in a split second.
The "layout D" is also one the most impressive moves that can be performed on the field. The is where you dive (layout) while blocking/catching the opponents pass. Then you can hop right up and chuck it down field for your own score.

What about frisbee golf?
I've played frisbee golf about a dozen times... well... back in my 20s anyways... and I've never seen a more alcohol friendly and stoner friendly "sport." Rednecks down here were literally rolling around ice chests full of beer from hole to hole.

I still remember my introduction to this sport and the fact that it wasn't on a real course. We were at some get together in a condo development and the residents there would play using actual objects found in the era. Like hole 1, you had to hit this mailbox. Then the 2nd hole was a tree, 3rd hole was the back side of an electrical box... etc. Some were par 2, some par 3, and they even had a few par 4.
So here you have huge groups of people walking all around this complex playing frisbee golf like hitting shit with these bees like it was the norm. :lol Not gonna lie, it was fun as hell.
