Organization that it was Timmy who was responsible for all of the Spurs' success throughout the years and that they need him on the court once again to bestow his winning aura onto them for the ship to be righted.

Pop is a nice little coach and all, but the truth of the matter is that he was going to be fired when the Spurs were losing and it was Duncan who saved his ass in a must win game that would decide whether Greg would be canned or not against the Rockets superteam of Hakeem, Barkley and Pippen.

Duncan of course beat another superteam and proved he is a top 5 GOAT of all time over a 19-year career and Pop resumed his "system of coaching" wherein the objective was to put the ball into Tim's hands and get the hell out of the way. Clearly a superior offense than that of Phil's triangle system or other great systems by fellow GOAT coaches.

Duncan and Pop needed each other. Let's not act like (outside of 2003) Duncan was the type to straight up carry a team all the time.

So superteams existed before LeBron even joined the league?
Tread lightly when answering this, OP.

It's just diversity for the sake of good optics. Because not only is he a Spurs great, he's also a card carrying phaggit.

IMO, 2002 was a better year for Duncan (individually [not team-wise]) than 2002. By 2003, Parker wasn't a rookie anymore (but only 20 yr old) and they had rookie Manu (even though he was crazy).

Rockets' superteam? Those guys were all washed and barely all-star level at that point.

Okay, first tell me that there's any NBA team who would not sign a 2XMVP, 3XFMVP, multiple time All-Star to an assistants coaching role. Especially when the man in question has a psychology degree (with honors!) from Wake Forest, and has proven himself to be a leader.

Duncan could be an assistant coach on any team he chose. There are probably several teams who would be glad to make him their head coach. Jason Kidd was named head coach of the Nets one season after he retired. Convince me that Duncan wouldn't be a better head coach than Kidd.
