View Full Version : Greater at their position--Tom Brady or Magic Johnson?

Among sports pundits, much in part due to his winning and longevity, Tom Brady is considered by some to be the GOAT QB in NFL history.

Also among sports pundit, Magic Johnson is considered to be the GOAT PG in NBA history due to his winning, style of play and all around game.

Brady's competition for GOAT QB includes Dan Marino, John Elway, Brett Favre, Peyton Manning and of course Joe Montana.

Magic's competition for GOAT PG includes John Stockton, Oscar Robertson and Jerry West (though personally, I've always considered West to be a SG).

Which of these two superstars is better at their position?

Is this a legitimate question?

Forget about QB, Tom Brady is the GOAT NFL player, period. No one has won more..dominated more than Tom.

Easily him over Magic in terms of greatness. Only Jordan holds a candle to Brady, in all of the 4 major sports in America.

I agree, but you'll get people in here that says he only plays one side of the ball.

Brady's much more comparable to Jordan than Magic

Brady has both the stats and rings to pretty much be the consensus GOAT. The only people who don't recognize that are haters.

Most people know that Magic only played on one side of the ball. That's why it's funny that the whelching OP called him an all around player.

Yea, I thought about that when posting. "Wait, wasn't Magic a terrible defender?"

Far better than Brady on that subject.

Says the bitch not recognizing Magic’s ability to rebound, score when he wanted, assist like a madman and lead the league in steals as he did early in his career.
Iverson & Curry led the league in steals too. A high steal average does not equate to being a good defender

Well 75% of the playoffs were harder for Jordan than it was for Bran.
And 25% of the playoffs were harder for Bran than it was for Jordan.

So if MJs competition sucked... what does that make LeGOAT's competition?

Okay but once again you are only talking about 25% of the overall playoffs (1 round).

Meanwhile, 75% of the playoffs (3 rounds) were MUCH tougher for MJ.

Remember, the playoffs are 4 rounds, not 1.

Try again and be better.

Thank you.

I feel like Gretzky and Ruth were probably better individually than Brady.

But yeah, even though I don't like him, he's EASILY better than Magic.

As a Laker/Steeler fan I can confirm it is Tom Brady.

If you're asking who Id rather have to start a team with in their sport no question I'll take Magic. Too many variables in football for one player to have as much impact as a GOAT basketball player.

Imo QB comes very close though. But they're obviously not as certain to win championships, as many of the ATG's like Manning, Favre, Rodgers, Brees, Young & Elway only won 1-2 Super Bowls, and you even have the likes of Dan Marino who never did

It's amazing how the geniuses always manage to find their way to ISH. This is the same dude who also said the '01 Lakers were the weakest champs in NBA history :oldlol:

considering Magic played the PG position more similar to the RB in NFL, odd comparison

a QB comparison at the PG position for the NBA, someone who ALSO played QB in HS, would be Allen Iverson

and to the WR dunking practice in the NFL, I think I always preferred more to those who gets to the crowd and celebrates with the fan
