What are the most underrated foods?
Not pizza. Not the super famous stuff. Underrated food. The food that comes off the bench and can score 12 points in 6 minutes and play great defense but doesn't get the respect it deserves.
Foods, dishes, simple snacks, anything.

You don't need to add anything to potatoes and they're still delicious.
You're talking about adding meat and or spices.
Potatoes > all.

quesadilla is a great one. my go to at mexican places since ik it'll usually be pretty good at least.
fresh fish can be pretty delicious, even raw if sushi is your thing but a sear in a pan is a great default.

Mexican torta.... easily!!!
People talk about burritos, tacos, Cuban sandwiches, subways, gyros, philly cheese stake, etc But nothing beats a good torta DF style.
They simply have tons of flavor specially paired with a good hot sauce. I'll go as far as saying they might be better than most burgers.

Add some seasoning and cook it with butter. What I like to do is melt the cheese in butter and garlic salt along with a jalape

Apply sour cream on your scrambled eggs while they are cooking. Best eggs ever.
Pizza Quesadilla, add tomato sauce, cheese, and a topping of any meat of choice on your flour tortilla, cook.
Grilled cheese sandwich with a side of tomato soup, cheap and delicious
Huevos con chorizo and huevos rancheros. Delicious Mexican breakfast.

potatoes are the goat when you dress them up without regard for richness.
the best mashed potatoes have ridiculous amounts of butter.
but that's the problem, i'd rather eat beans with fresh queso wrapped in a corn tortilla, low in fat and still very tasty.
but if i'm eating a ny strip or ribeye, absolutely i'll make some mashed potatoes.
ya'll ever slice up some potaties thinly and fry them? pair them up with eggs for breakfast. or chop em up and add them to chorizo. very tasty...but once again, very rich in fat.
beans taste good without having to add gross amounts of fat.

Elotes. Folks in big cities or places with large Mexican populations know what it is. Also known as Mexican corn
Get corn on the cob. Cover it in Parmesan cheese, chili pepper, mayo and sometimes butter. Street vendors usually sell it for 1.50 or 2.00 on a stick or in a cup. Shit is amazing and delicious

Yes, all the time. My mom and dad actually moved in with me over the last 3 years until they moved out recently and that's all I had. My mom would cook me sopa at least once a week. Hers kills everyone's in the world. But it's normal food to me that I grew up with. living in Vancouver there are so many Asian restaurants that you really get to taste authentic cuisine. Pho is big here in Van. Everyone has had enchiladas and burritos. Pho is a must try if you haven't had it.
