View Full Version : Is there anyone who models their game after Lebron?

We've seen people who imitate MJ on the court (Kobe), hell I try to mimic all the moves of DRose. But I honestly have never seen someone who is trying to play like lebron. Why is that? (honest question) :confusedshrug:

Just Ben Simmons but we already know he's a dud

If you actually tried picking up a ball and playing for once you’d realize that imitating MJ/Kobe (mid range, fadeaways) is 100x easier than imitating Lebron (bully ball).
The same reason Curry is the easiest to imitate now (chuck up 3s and pray). It has to do with body type, where Kobe’s size is more common than Lebron’s.

Crazy how this is a basketball forum and only like 5 guys actually hoop.

Giannis in some ways is like a 7 foot version of Bron. Ben Simmons has elements for sure too. Bron's scoring skillset at their ages was CLEARLY BETTER though. In Bron's early 20s, his scoring skillset obviously still needed a lot of work. BUT it was tons better than Giannis and Ben at this point in their careers. But Giannis IN TERMS of scoring dominance, freak athletic ability, all around ability, and positional versatility is the CLOSEST we've seen to a 7 foot version of Lebron. Ben has all those elements EXCEPT the scoring dominance part.

Simmons. Zion. Giannis to an extent. Lebron’s game can only be emulated by roid freaks. The great thing about Kobe was that his skillset can be adapted to any player. Kobe is wine; lebron is milk. Guess which ages better

Why would anyone want to copy LeBron's game other than his passing. His offensive game is pretty ugly but hella effective because of his physical gifts. what does it matter really. Nobody copy's Kareem game either but he's probably the best or second best player ever.

his game cannot be modeled after, unless you're going for his spin layup in transition, zip passing, or post turnarounds...

other than that, you need to be created in a lab.

Can you really just model being that fast and strong by choice? If so I guess I chose the wrong career path.

We are talking one of the ultimate freak athletes with the body of Karl Malone at 6'8 and 250+ pounds. From there, has elements of Magic in his game as well. And along with the Big O, averages 27-30 PPG from a PASS FIRST mindset. At his peak could play and defend PG, SG, SF, PF, and at times center. So for these reasons, he's EASILY the best all around player ever. So there is NO MJ-Kobe type of comparison for Lebron.

I also think he's gonna redefine how a superstar player ages as well. Could be the first legend to be a top 5 caliber player in the league in his late 30's. And if he plays at 40, be a top 10 player in the league at 40. Plus I think the Lakers ON THE SNEAK TIP could potentially have a dynasty. If Boogie gets back to 90% of what he was, the Lakers have a Big 3. And if Kuz becomes a borderline All Star type of player on top of it, its a wrap for the rest of the league. Teams will be forced to form other Big 3's if this comes into fruition for the Lakers!

I play like Lebron irl.

I'm 6'1 220lbs and I bully ball the hell out of everyone and I don't have handles AT ALL, so I get a high pnr then I bully ball to the paint and then do the 1-2-3 crab dribble and call fouls.

It's in part because his scoring package outside of layups and dunk frequency isn't all that different from Kobe and MJ's. He takes turnaround jumpers and has for his entire career, though he didn't become really good at them until like 2012. He finishes with both hands equally well, creates space with his handle/athleticism/size and gets off the same sorts of moves. The part that's irreplicable is his being the GOAT athlete with Larry Bird passing ability.

Lebron’s specifications are purely physical. It’s ddifficult for most men to emulate a 6’9” roided up freak. Kobe on the other hand relied on pure skill. So you can be a short fat dude emulating Kobe’s elite ball handling and defense or you could be a tall skinny dude Shooting fade-aways and dunking like Kobe. This is why Kobe is a more universal and beloved player. This is why Kobe ranks ahead of lebron all time (nevermind the rings and accolades).

Hopefully not, i don't want to see any more players with stiff arms, travel and flopping as their signature moves.

Because there's nothing to model. The majority of Lebron's game is basically drive and kick out when doubled. Plenty of people are playing like that, it's not a new way to play.

To that point, MJ's game wasn't new either. Plenty of people play like him, minus the tongue sticking out. They just weren't as good.

Curry's game is new in terms of the range.

His game is hard to imitate.. You need a PF body that plays like a SG with PG court vision.

Every out of shape fat dude i ever played with has lebrons skill set ball hog bark orders pulls up 3s or just try and barrell in for tge layup. Lebron just finds success with it cause hes a physical beast

Zion, Giannis is the closest thing to LeBron.

Simmons doesn't have the shooting/3 pointer Lebron has, his post defense is not elite to Lebron, he is very good attacking in the paint but not that strong like Lebron.

Blake doesn't have the defense Lebron have, he can shoot three and have a better post game now than before but he lost more athletism and doesn't have the elite passing Lebron does.

Giannis need a mid-range jump shot to be more similar to Lebron.

As a bball player myself, there is no aspect of his game that I try to replicate. I admire his spin move. That's solid. Other than that, not much. He never had amazing footwork, no midrange, no post game, no triple threat game, etc. Everything was downhill with a head of steam. One dimensonal. Sorry to be honest but it's just true. Dude lacked so many basic, fundamentals. He got so far because he was just so blessed genetically.

Just needs to improve shooting (obviously) and bulk up. Has made it clear LeBron is his hero and models his game on him.

LeBron worked hard to improve his game over many years which allowed him to be the best player of his era. Hopefully Ben can do the same.
