do they mean best individual talent? Like a Wilt Chamberlain or LeBron?

Or do they mean greatest champion like a Bill Russell?

Cuz Russell won the most...

Michael Jordan is on the level of Michael Jackson. The greatest to ever do it—by consensus

"Air" Jordan's talent was arguably goat; he was a 6'6" Westbrook, so his talent was unusual, but just in a smaller package than lebron

MJ is the goat combo leaper - the only guy that was goat-level off 1 or 2 legs - he could jog up to the FT line and double-pump off 1 leg, and was one of the goat 2-foot dunkers we've ever seen

The greatest #1 option winner of the modern era.

It's really not that hard to understand.

team offense and spacing was impossible back when there was no 3-point line, so a 1-way defender like Russell could dominate and win the most.

But once 3-pointer basketball began in 1980, team offense improved drastically, so the goat offensive and 2-way player won the most rings as "tha man" and became the goat (6 rings is the most in 3-pointer basketball)

I think the reason Russell doesn't get the acclaim some think he should, is that those titles were in the nascent stages of basketball. Everything post-merger , rightly or wrongly, seemed to be viewed in a different lens.

Bill Russell dominating for 11 years seems totally unbelievable that people buy the reason that the league was totally different back then. That kind of dominance is something you might expect to see only in a small regional college league.

As far as individual talent, no one has yet surpassed Jordan there. LeBron is great in his own right, but he's still catching up to Jordan there (Which he said himself AFTER winning his 2016). I don't think you all realize just how many records and accomplishments Jordan still holds over Bron.

Wilt of course would technically be the most dominant if we go by records but he didn't combine that with winning. Jordan did, almost the best of both worlds sort of thing

Hence GOAT

Still subjective.

Robert Horry is a better clutch player.

Id bet wilt is a better one on one player.

Id bet Russel is a better defender.

and id bet LBJ is a better solo-carrier on a team of numnuts. (neither could win, but LBJ can get you farther)

Hes not untouchable imo

if that's your objective truth, you most likely watch the game of basketball simply having your eyes glued to where the ball goes
