The first time I saw TJ Ford he stood out. You could see something special. Anyone reading this see “special” when they watched him? Even the potential to be?
I only saw him in high school, in mixes and clips. I was the same high school class as LeBron, and he was just a year behind us.

I mean a lot of these NBA caliber talents look otherworldly when they’re playing author diminutive high school players. You don’t really know how good they are until the level of competition increases.

I do recall thinking at the time, like most New York City area guards, he’s overly flash handle and style over substance. Meaning not great finishing ability on better levels of talent, and a suspect jumper.

Not being as good as Jason Kidd makes him an asshole or what? Besides the 01 Nets 4 best players miss a combined 146 games(Kittles didnt play the whole season and Marbury, Kenyon, and Vanhorn all missed chunks). Whole lineup was healthy when Kidd got there. A healthy 01 Nets wouldnt have been a finals team but they likely would have been respectable.

He was a two time all star and all nba third team. Kinda makes it hard to even call him overrated considering how many people seem to think he was overrated. Im not sure who is even rating him highly. The fans didnt vote him into all star games....the coaches didnt pick him either.

He was just a good point guard for a while. He didnt really do much to hate on. His career wasnt very noteworthy going either way. I suspect hed be pretty tough to stop in this league though. Not that most good guards arent.
