On 6/24 during the interview I was told the salary for the state position was 60K. Then when I was offered the job on 7/5 which was a conditional offer, I was told the salary was $61,330 contingent on the successful background check. Background was successful and the written confirmation that came in the mail yesterday has the salary as 60K again. So i sent a email to HR this morning and have not received a response so I will just ask about this on monday when I start.

But the reason I wont make a big deal is because I never made over 45,000 my entire life so whether it's 60 or 61 it wont make that much of a difference because my financial situation will still be a life changing moment. I can't make too much of a deal out of it since 60K was the first number I was told and 61K was the second. So it's kind of a first world issue

Yep. It's happening everywhere..

At my current workplace my colleagues and myself are constantly stressed because the offer doesn't match the money they make on the Paystub.

I start my new job Sept 3rd and I'm looking at $43,680 @ $21 an hour.

Since I'm hourly, I think it'll be easier to trail compared to salaried.

but you wouldnt get too bent out of shape if the salary was 42,013 at @20.42 an hour since you are still in the 20's hourly and the 40's salary wise

Of course. $0.68 makes a huge difference. Heck, even $0.25 a year will make a difference.

The difference up front is the impact on whether or not you can afford a more quality meal a week for example.

When you're new, it's great to call that shit out right away but in a respectful way.

"Hi HR, I am emailing you in regards to a small concern. While this isn't a big deal, I would love to be provided with some clarification on this detail in regards to pay. I noticed my pay is at 'x' since xx/xx/xx. I was under the impression I signed an offer letter for '$'. Please take your time to clarify any confusion. I hope you have a great day"

It's how you confront the situations. Having difficult to have conversations are insanely important.

Yes, and both OP and Walk on Water are Akrazotile/Starface. Sorry to all who responded to him seriously.
