He is used to play in the no defense era of the NBA where even he can score 70 points.

Really sad seeing an NBA player whining about defense being played.

Yeah but, doesn't matter if he expands his range to 40 feet if his ability to handle doubles in high pressure situations is subpar. Really it's more about the mentality displayed than anything. Some players would take that situation as an 'oh yeah? watch this!'' the next time that happened. He took it and bitched about it.

(https://twitter.com/BleacherReport/status/1162443104571367424?s=20) And maybe these dudes should be working on their 1-on-1 defense instead of corny doubles in an open gym lmao. Obviously they can't guard him so they have to double, that's the sad part.

And Book handles double teams just fine (https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/ct6v9o/devin_booker_saw_the_most_double_teams_off_pick/), he's only had to deal with being one of the most double teamed players in the league every season he's been in the league since he's been surrounded by G-leaguers, washed up scrubs, and guys who aren't even in the league.

Not bad for a dude who could still be a half a decade away from entering his prime. But no, the keyboard warriors know best as usual. Never seen so many people hate on a 22 year old player over meaningless bullsh*t in my life. Book really does attract the haters for some reason. Thought the hate for him was bad already, but this sh*t just getting sad at this point. Probably the only dude in this thread who's watched more than a handful of games Devin Booker actually played in, aka the only one actually qualified to judge. Dude gets double teamed ALL THE TIME in real NBA games(you know, where it actually matters), handles double teams better than most players in the league, and I've never seen him complain about it.

Although I've seen him drop 70 in a game where we was double teamed damn near all game long and had one of the worst supporting casts in NBA history, facing arguably the best defense in the league on their home court. Oh yeah, and at the age of 20 too(youngest to not only drop 70, but 60 as well btw). But people still hate him for that of course when realistically that Suns team should have lost by 60 points. Easily the worst roster I've ever seen in my life as an NBA fan. Dude's best teammate in that game was an overweight af 90 year old washed up Jared Dudley, think about that for a second. :oldlol:

Even if you want to get ultra-petty with it and take away points that he still had to earn to get to 70(he still drew the foul all by himself, still made the free throws all by himself), as I already stated he's still the youngest player to ever score 60+ so what point are you really trying to prove here? That he sucks ass or something? You've been hating on the dude for years. :oldlol: No amount of your hatred for him is going to change the fact he's been doing things not many players ever have done at his age. And the whole "doesn't win games" thing is a joke. Seph f*cking Curry didn't lead a winning season until he was 25 when he finally got a team around him. Before that, all bottom feeder seasons. Look at Steph now.

Book isn't even 25, dude's 22. Some rookies come in to the league older than that. Wasn't even a super high hyped draft pick. He was picked at 13. Yet people set Lebron-esque standards for him. Even Lebron wouldn't have been able to lead past few years Suns teams to a winning season in this west, sh*t he couldn't even lead the Lakers to one. :oldlol:

May be true. Even with context he got played by feeling himself too much. If he was running around up top with two dudes chasing him he might have a point but that's a double you should throw at a lot of people. That's a double youd throw in the nba finals.

Booker is a Reggie Theus or Dale Ellis-level player - and it shows in that video where he's trapped near the baseline - he needed to move TOWARDS the double-teamer, thus using their momentum against them to get open, like MJ below:

If someone were fouled hard? In that setting? Booker and the people defending him would have an argument.

A double team in an open court gym...isn't anything to cry about. If anything consider yourself THAT good.

It's not an nba game, it's an unofficial and spontaneous scrimmage.

Funny thing is he was killing everyone that game, made ben simmons look bad on D.

So you going to keep with this angle like people aren’t understanding the nature of the game when other NBA players are laughing?

You don’t have some better grasp of the situation. You’re just an emotional fan annoyed that one of the only times someone you support has gotten national attention it’s him being the laughed at. Understandable you’d be upset and defensive as you and the other guy clearly are.

But you certainly aren’t the people to go to for an unbiased take on the matter.
Book scored 70 and was getting shat on lol. It happens everytime he drops 30+.

Booker is a Reggie Theus or Dale Ellis-level player - and it shows in that video where he's trapped near the baseline - he needed to move TOWARDS the double-teamer, thus using their momentum against them to get open, like MJ below:

https://i.makeagif.com/media/6-18-2019/_QaNZO.gif

Dude was way further in corner, held the ball way longer. He didn't really have a spot to go but that's his own fault for not looking up. He was all trying to do a sexy triple threat size up and he got rekt. If it was real ball he'd probably have been trapped when he stood around in the corner with his back turned.

It was already joke level defense and he let it happen. He was just sitting there like double team me. If we leave the whether it's ethical question aside, the point stands. If someone is doing what Devin is doing, you double them ; they cant go anywhere and it's likely they can't make a pass that will not allow you to recover. Diz is basketball 101.

The fact that they waited so long is enough to show they weren't that serious. He had plenty of time to do shit and didn't wanna pass.

If you double someone, you admit to being a shit defender. Its ok in streetball, but as an nba player on a summer league game?

Go read Andre Iguodala’s comment. Both he and Draymond Green double in practice. Added to Noah that’s 2 DPOYs and an all d teamer. But only bad defenders behave such a way....at least that what someone being emotional would think.

It's mentality. I haven't played 5 on 5 n a grit but I'm sure people think I'm a try hard cuz I'm boxing people out and bumping cutters. Taking real on the chest charges. Dudes trying to fight me.

People just wired differently. When I was younger and more athletic I didn't like people (generally like 40 year old dudes who could not keep up with me) being physical with me, but now it's like a little war. Don't care how big the dude is as long as he obeys the rules of bball ill bang w him.

That's kinda a similar issue. Do you double to **** w someone? Is it a try hard move, maybe but once you know they cant handle it and you're in their head it's like, my job is done.

I don't think it's fair to impose your vision of what bball is on the rest of a game. You could be like haha really??! But dude seemed offended. Like when someone hacks you and doesn't give you the ball back it's like OK haha.

Dudes just out there Ballin and having fun. Some peoples idea of fun is ****in with dudes who are looking to go out gunning. If you double and it's successful, it's a good play. It wasn't even like a leave someone open double. It was a hard trap.

Cool opinion bro, but I'll take the opinions of Lebron, KD, Klay, Pop, Kobe, etc countless great players/coaches who think he's gonna be an all-star.

And lets say he does fall off(which is unlikely, considering he's improved his overall game every season he's been in the league and finally has a real NBA team around him)... then there will still be a reason to remember him. That's regardless of whether you thought it was corny that they purposely fouled at the end to give him a chance to finish off the 70 or not. Regardless of whether or not you thought it was corny that they celebrated his 70 even though they lost, or whatever opinions you might have on the matter. Your opinion isn't going down in the history books, he is. :confusedshrug:

That's a dumb way to look at it. Winning is winning and nothing is better than a W. Any way you can possibly get it within the rules and without malicious intent. Part of the game. Learn to spin out of or split the double or make the pass out, demand it back/make the cut to the rim. Don't be a bitch.

It's a summer pickup game :oldlol:

If he wants to practice passing he can call up other people. Not like he needs to refine that anyways, 7 assists per game last season...for a shooting guard at 22 is pretty good.

What are you even talking about? My response was to him saying I make topics about people nobody remembers....and most of those players in question are hall of famers and all stars. And hes right...most people DONT remember a lot of hall of famers and all stars.

Who thinks Booker cant be an all star? Virtually everyone to ever score 20 a game could with the right breaks. But that isnt what gets you remembered. Being in the history books doesnt either. As someone who actually knows the history books and has seen years of people on ISH not knowing what the hell im talking about I can assure you of that.

You dont care about the NBA record Elmore smith holds. You dont care about Otis Birdsong. 99% of ISH wouldnt know who Gus Williams is if he walked into a gas station with them and he was all nba over Magic twice and led a team to a title. He knocked Kareem out of the playoffs twice I believe. History is full of all stars modern fans dont give a flying **** about. And as of now? Booker is more Purvis Short than any of them. Not one person here cares about Purvis having a pretty jumper and scoring 26 and 28 a game in his prime on teams nobody gives a shit about. Nobody gives a shit about his teammate Sleepy Floyd either and unlike Booker he was an all star....made the playoffs...and dropped 50 there setting an NBA record for points in a quarter. And he did it vs the Showtime lakers....and won the game.

People like me care.

Most fans dont.

Book has a long while to go and will no doubt become an all star at some point off sheer numbers but it takes more for anyone to care long term.

A lot more.

None of which has anything to do with it being funny that a guy playing basketball and lighting it up is annoyed the defense adjusted to make him pass.

Its a soft move, anyone at my local wouldn't complain about a double team, yes these guys are professional athletes that's a not a ticket to be soft, Booker probably knew the camera was on and wanted to make a go to play.
Going to be fun when he is in a double situation NBA, can relate back to this clip and we can all take comfort in the fact he complained about a typical defensive situation and didn't practice hard enough. He should stick to being ***** in a lift, its a disgrace he has a Nike signature.
