Greenland was also significantly more covered by ice caps in the 1940s/all the way up to the 2000s and the North Pole was almost inaccessible except for a few weeks each year. All that is obviously very different now with climate change/global warming. Everyone knows how valuable Greenland is with the ice caps out of the way and North Pole exposed for exploitation.

Canada, Greenland, Norway and Russia are closest to North pole, but everyone knows Canada, Norway and Russia are their own countries. I'm guessing Trump thought Greenland is nothing more than Denmark's territory and the US could buy their way to the North pole through Greenland for our oil companies to "drill baby drill."

These f*ckers are not thinking of tomorrow. They only care about making that money today, and they will drive us into extinction maybe not today or tomorrow but perhaps the day after tomorrow. I'm glad Greenland told Trump 'no'. We should not be drilling or even sending cargo ships through the North pole. The Northwest passage runs directly along the Greenland coastline as well.
