Dawkins just uploaded the game when he led the Lakers back from down 17 in '08 WCF vs. San Antonio:

2008 Kobe looking straight nasty. Still had his first-step, ridiculous shot-creating, and still a problem on defense. Arguable peak Kobe.

TBH Kobe just had a more aesthetically pleasing mid-range game than MJ. The way he would twist-and-turn, lean, and fade on his jumpers.
Just plain sexier than Jordan's robotic shot.

Not trying to take anything away from any of the players on the court but that was by far the weakest era of basketball in the last 40 years. You see some of the chumps on those two teams?
The whole league was flooded with straight from highschool players.

Huh? This applies more to the late 90's till mid 00's. League was pretty strong by 2008. And who are the chumps you are referring to?

2006-2009 is undoubtedly Kobe's prime. And having binged large parts of those seasons recently, I definitely consider 2009 at least better than 2008. Kobe was always blessed with amazing quickness and flexibility, but 2009 was probably his lightest season since at least 2004 and those strengths are even more heightened in 2009. He's just getting past guys at will that year and looks nimble as hell. And the rest of his offensive game still looked strong as ever. Don't think it's a coincidence that 2009 is the only playoff run of his career where he had no sub-par series'.

Are you nuts?:oldlol: the league in the late 90s was infinitely more talented than it was in 2008.

No it wasn't. Late 90s + Early 2000s were awful.

As a fan 2008 was my favorite Kobe season. I know he didn't win a title that season, but I felt that was the 1st time I saw him put it all together. He always had the skill, but that year he had the timing as far as when to impose himself on games and the balance to allow his teammates to help out some. Like his mental game had taken the next step. Another thing that impressed me that year was how he began modifying his game for his post injury body. Remember the year before that he had a rough going, got suspensions for hitting guys for blocking his jumpers etc. This was the rebound year, had he been able to take out Boston in the finals it would have been the finest season of his career in my eyes.

You haven't watched much MJ obviously
Here's a thread about jumpshooting with gifs throughout of jumpers that Kobe wouldn't be able to attempt, let alone convert

They weren't. The late 2000's and especially the early 2010's might have been the weakest eras in history. When you have a 38 year old Duncan and a 37 year old Manu dominating the league, there's an issue. Or a 36 year old KG, 35 year old Ray and 34 year old pierce taking the most talented team in the league to 7 games.

Kobe wasn't smooth at all. Wade is about 10 times smoother. So is Kawhi. Mj is another level of smoothness.

Hey 3ball, I didn't say Kobe's mid-range was more effective than Jordan's, I said it was more visually appealing...and you STILL got triggered.

That 4th quarter was NASTY, Duncan getting bodied on almost every single play down the stretch.

See this is where you just out yourself as a plain hater, its ok to think that LeBron is better or whatever, but to say Kobe wasn't smooth at all, when EVERYBODY talks about how aesthetically pleasing his game was is just plain hating.
Kobe, from a skills standpoint, is one of the greatest of all time, its what made him such a deadly player.

He is not a hater. Just a poor troll alt. Benefit from his assists, disregard the nonsense when he switches sides. Simple.
