you can't knock the Jazz or any of MJ's comp because it was a 2-star vs. 2-star format back then - if you gave those Jazz an extra perennial all-star to match the Big 3 format of recent years, they would sweep the Warriors and Lebron's team worse than they swept Shaq's 4 all-star Lakers or Popovich/Duncan Spurs
Stockton/Malone/Worthy with that Jazz teamwork is a goat team, maybe THE goat team
.

Jeff Hornacek was 34 years old playing bone on bone with his ****ed up knees you stupid bastard. That the Jazz won 62 games that season just goes to show how pathetic late 90s NBA was. 3ball needs to stop sucking MJ's dick when they were beating teams that wouldn't even get out of the 2nd round these days in the finals.

Jeff was the 3rd option not the 2nd. Stockton was 2nd option.

LOL Smoke 117!!!
The 1998 Jazz led by mid 30's Malone, Stockton and Hornacek ABSOLUTELY BLASTED the Shaq/Kobe 61 win Lakers and Duncan led 56 win Spurs in back to back series. Those 3 guys won 11 titles between 1999 to 2014 (LeBron's watch) with a 37 y/o Duncan beating the tar of LeBald in 2014.
The late 1990's Jazz would be a top NBA team in ANY ERA specifically in this dumbed down, fundamentally flawed rule enhanced modern NBA where a bottom of the barrel IQ knucklehead like Dumbrook can average a triple double and be league MVP, LOL!!! On their brains ALONE the late 90's Jazz get 50 wins!

It's irrelevant whether you agree that a 3-star Jazz team would be goat
The point is that you can't compare the Jazz or any of MJ's comp because it was a 2-star vs. 2-star format back then - if you gave Jordan's opponents an extra perennial all-star to match the Big 3 format of recent years, there wouldn't be this perception that MJ's opponents had less talent than today's big 3 superteams
Infact, remove a star from the 16' Warriors (so they only have 2 stars like the Jazz), and the Jazz destroy the Warriors.. Malone/Stockton > Curry/Klay

Not like Kobe was still coming off the bench and Duncan was a rookie, or anything like that. :oldlol:

Dude, Stockton and Hornacek defeated 3 athletic, all-star guards (Kobe, Eddie Jones, Van Exel)
And Shaq
And Fisher/fox/Horry
Btw, Duncan's rookie year is equal to any other year he played - the guy played 4 years of college and was ready right away

But when the Hawks had four all stars, they weren't perennials  . Just like those players at the time, Kobe only got in due to the fan votes, not anywhere near all star level.
Mike went 1-9, while Duncan won NBA title. So young Duncan > Young Mike. Sound logic.

What about that 61 win Lakers team with 4 all-stars and two HOFers?

How pathetic to compare the fluke one year wonder 2015 Hawks to the late 90's Lakers whose core of Shaq, Kobe, Fisher, Fox and Horry would go on to four Finals and a 3-peat in the next 6 years! When Kyle Korver and Jeff Teague are making all-star teams you know not only your conference is pathetic but THE LEAGUE as well. Shaq was already a MONSTER in the late 90's and he had NO ANSWER for the OLD JAZZ!!!
As for Tim Duncan and the 1998 Spurs, remember David Robinson was injured for all of 1997 but they won 59 games in 1996 with basically a core of Robinson, Sean Elliot and Avery Jonson who were all back for Tim's rookie year and would be the championship hubs for 1999.
Give Jordan the talent the Spurs had since Tim Duncan's rookie year and see what happens. Magic, Isiah and Larry still thank their lucky stars Michael went to a 27 win team instead of a 45-50 win contender!

Kobe improvements is the reason they threepeat. Those role players were easily replaceable.
Sean Elliot missed most of the season, including the postseason.
