I mean most of our roster were rookies in the playoffs and we were what like a quarter away from the WCF? Murray dropped back to back 30+ games. Nuggets were one of the youngest teams in the league, and I believe youngest in the playoffs.

Pay what you need to pay. As a long time Nuggets fan I remember when Lakar fans didn't even realize we existed .. now they are out here looking for our attention. Tough times :lol

Imagine thinkin the argument is "BEN WALLACE WAS 6'8" is some sort of defense of what Harrell is as a player

News flash. Harrel isn't Dennis Rodman, Ben Wallace, Charles Barkley. He's a center who averages 6 rebounds per game.

Nice straw man attempt. He didn't say anything about Harrell as a player. Just that he was short.

And he's not Ben Wallace defensively. But he's impactful on the court and is a better offensive player.

They are betting on Murray becoming an all star level talent. He's shown flashes of that and he has excellent chemistry with Jokic. This is also to keep Jokic happy I'm guessing. Imagine if they lose Murray, how unhappy would Jokic be. Also Murray's been pretty healthy which is a bonus.

Go check his defensive stats and play for a PG. 4 assists per game? He's statistically one of the worst defenders too.

Amazing. 40 mill. Amazing.

Ooh defensive stats! Let's do it and compare him to the new bust you are nut riding in Kuzma.

Stat - Kuzma - Murray
DRTG: 112 | 111
DBPM: -1.3 | -1.0
DWS: 1.9 | 2.3
OppFGDiff: 0% | .5%

Damn, I guess Kuzma is also one of the worst defenders in the league too!

But then again, Lakers have a stud PG rotation of Caruso | Rondo.

AirTupac

Denver is most likely about to start there best stretch in franchise history. Jokic is an absolute superstar, and were filled with young talent across the board. You've been coming at the Nuggets for years and literally every single season your proven wrong. Only thing you were correct about was Mudiay/Russell .. and I was dead wrong about that for sure.

I'm not a delusional homer like you. Wait until Murray has a bad year, or the Nuggets **** up. Right now were one of the youngest teams in the league coming off a season where we almost made the WCF. Look at what all the other young teams did last year like PHX/Sac.

Its easy to get into their heads because they have some insecurity issues from a life long world of being cucked. I cant imagine cheering for a small minded team like Denver, Clippers, Jazz etc. Just full of losing and cringe moves like signing players like Jamal Murray to 38 mill dollar contracts and trying to defend it "BU BU HES YOUNGS, LAKERS DONT HAVE HIM THATS WHY THEY SALTY" yeah genius argument.

I mean the argument is they almost made the WCF with the youngest roster in the playoffs, and one of the youngest rosters in the entire league. It's just the start for Denver so why not lock up your guys? Especially when your a small market team as you pointed out.

Nuggets have been better than the Lakers for like 6 straight years. 6 straight seasons. The last time you guys made it out of the 1st round was like what? back in '11-12? :oldlol: Keep in mind the Nuggets have had zero top 5 picks, compared to how many for the Lakers?

Guess you'll always have wins from like 10 years ago :confusedshrug:

When you win as much as the Lakers have the last 20 years, you're bound to have windows where you aren't winning it all :confusedshrug:

And we're right back in the mix as usual. I'll give you credit all trolling aside, Denver has a good core but that Murray contract is too much and you know it but you guys had to do it because your market is in Denver. You can agree with that?

I mean I'm a Broncos fan. We've won a bunch, top tier franchise I'd argue, and we've been dogshit lately and it absolutely sucks. 6 straight seasons without the playoffs, especially with the advantages L.A has, is absolutely brutal. Like that's something you'd expect out of the Denver Nuggets in the 90's :oldlol:

Yeah the Murray contract is absolutely too much. We paid him for potential, not for last season. No sane person think's Murray is worth that money last year. He's young. We have an amazing young core. Does it have potential to be an ugly contract? Sure. It's just the new NBA.

Him popping off in the playoffs probably secured him that deal.

@Nugs fans, I didn't read the whole thread so sorry if this was mentioned but do you see Murray being able to take the next step in terms of impact to the team and controlling the pace of a game?

Impact to the team over the next 2-3 seasons, absolutely. He already showed that in the playoffs. He had some monster games that you typically don't see from players his age. He closed out a few wins, that one in vs S.A where he dropped 20+ in the 4th was absolutely massive and without it we would have been screwed.

As for controlling the pace of the game he'll never be a legitimate PG which we don't need with Jokic. He's more of a combo guard. I don't see that happening. I do think over the next few years the 2 man game between Murray/Jokic is going to be filthy. They leaned on it in the playoffs at times and it was dangerous.

Murray's biggest issue is consistency. He's a rollercoaster. His entire career he's been up and down. That's why his deal is based off potential. He currently doesn't deserve it but the Nuggets are banking on him figuring out his consistency issues over the next season or two.

Kblaze8855

We all really really have to stop looking at these numbers without considering the salary cap. By percentage of the cap which is literally the only thing that matters he will be paid about the same as Tim Thomas and Theo Rattliff were making around 2001. He makes Jalen Rose or Michael Finley money and it rises up to about Rasheed Wallace money. Stars are less overpaid than they used to be in ways.

Relative to the cap some guys back then made the modern equal of 60-70 million dollars a year

You all still gonna be looking at raw dollars when the cap is 200 million dollars in 20 years or will you realize 50 million a year in that league isn’t the same as 50 million in 2010?

The cap is about to be three times what it was in the Shaq and Kobe days why wouldn’t players make three times the money?

These deals shouldn’t be eye popping anymore once you think it through.

Most of these guys are making Keith Vanhorn money. None of them make Alonzo Mourning money yet by percentage.

Nobody will ever make what Patrick Ewing made in the 90s. Guy made 18.7 million one year against a 23 million cap.

Because op likes to laugh at other franchises and talk about how stupid they are I decided to do a little research.

Despite playing in a big market

Despite having the best player on the planet fall into their laps

Despite getting top 2 picks 3 straight years.

Despite Anthony Davis forcing his way to their team.

How many teams have fewer wins than the lakers the last 6 seasons?

Zero
None
Not a single franchise has done worse than the lakers the last 6 years.

But please airtupac - keep reminding us of how stupid all the other teams are and how brilliant the lakers are. Clearly you know best since the lakers won so many titles all those years ago.
