Man I really hope your trolling. It's not a box squat for one and the form is actually pretty bad. LeBron obviously knows his shit so I'm assuming he's messing around here and your just trolling.

Feet wide, toes out, 75% deep.

100% box squat. Big boys don't need a butt tap to gauge

You can do squats all kind of different ways so this may just be him trying something new or something but as far as box squats go this would be pretty bad. He's neck is straining, his left knee is caving towards the bottom and and he's nowhere near 75% lol. It's not a knock on Bron like I said hes probably just messing around but you know absolutely nothing about strength training if you think that's a good box squat or if you think he's getting any serious gains from that squat.

These dudes have world class trainers and Lebron is a world class athlete with world class durability

Maybe but thats still not a box squat and in general he dosnt have very good squating mechanics if that's him being serious which I'm not sure he is tbh.

slow decline, no pause, explosion on the way up

great for conditioning fast twitch fibers and overall quickness

5* bench/box squat

Actually excellent form.

You have to do them that way in order to really engage the glutes. Also not going all the way down keeps the quads loaded up throughout the movement. The pelvic thrust at the end is the icing on the cake...That loads up the lower abs, upper quads and glutes simultaneously.

World Class

He's not doing this for "gains". He's doing this for core balance combined with explosiveness....perfect for Bball.

Actually it's not excellent form it's ok. Like I said he's straining his neck and he's knees don't track with his toes towards the bottom. They start to cave in a bit. I'm not picking a bit but either way it's in no way perfect. He's also not working his glutes much. He'll get some activation from the thrust but Most of the glute activation in the squat comes from the lower end of the squat which in this case there isn't much of one.

This is obviously a sport specific move for explosiveness as you say but like you also so he won't get much gains from it and that was the whole point of the thread and why I disagreed.

Dude it's a squat. It's actually a hard movement to do perfectly especially for tall long guys. Im sure LeBron can squat with excellent form but this video for damn sure isn't an example of that is all I'm saying. And so what he's a world class athlete with world class training. Doesn't mean they can teach him how to do a perfect squat. Some people just have a hard time with it. Even elite athletes. How many broken shots in the the NBA do you see even though they have world class shooting coaches? Do you really think attaining a perfect squat is any easier than attaining a perfect shot?

I see what you mean with the knees. The hip joint, knee, ankle plane is not perfect. His knee does deviate. That's not good.

Yeah that's all I'm saying. It's not the worst squat I've seen but it's not perfect either. I like LeBron but he's not perfect and I'm not gonna make shit up just cause I like him. His form isn't great in that video but so what it's just a squat.

Not much bulking is gonna happen if he's only doing half reps

Deep squats put significant strain on the knees. Plenty of trainers discourage going below 90deg these days.

Should be doing more pull ups. Get a wider, stronger back and pummel through the post given his age, + take advantage of the miss-matches

But we know old habits die hard. He's gonna be at the 3-pt line asking for picks.

Yes there are some trainers that advise against them but most trainers encourage it and there's no scientific study's that show atg squats are bad for the knees. The squat and specifically the deep squat is a hard move to do correctly. Some people just don't have the flexibility to them. This is why some people who do them hurt there knees or back.
