View Full Version : Will we ever see a rookie/soph more impactful than Shaq or Lebron's 1st-2nd year?

True, however Bird was already a 23yo coming out of his 4th year in college

Kareem

Tbf though, Robinson won 59 games with the Spurs in '96 before his injury. Duncan won 56 his rookie year with Robinson

Hi Wheels. Why you always trying to prop up LeBron, who has cemented his legacy as being a glorified loser?

Good choices as well.
Seems to be a common trend that consensus Top 10 players come out the gate like Little Caesars. Hot and ready :pimp:

Dude......you're on here 24/7 and never provide a lick of intelligent basketball content. You're infatuated with a dude who you think is in a wheelchair and post about him multiple times daily on a basketball message board.
Let that sink in before calling others retards.

If Kareem wasn't on that team, then sure you could cite Magic's rookie year. But it was Kareem who was carrying the scoring and rebounding load up until he injured his ankle in the Finals.

He had a Kareem who was on the back-end of his prime. Nixon. That wasnt a bad team. Of course, Magic catapulted them to the next level.

We were a 50 win team and playoff contending long before Magic arrived.
Similar to Spurs pre-Kawhi

So what he still had 18/7/8 as a rookie which is on par with lebrons 21/6/6 as a rookie. That's with having to defer to the greatest scorer of all time. Take Kareem off that team and magic scores 21-23 pts a game anyway plus they'd still make the playoffs. Either way you look at it magics was better.

He was. I'm not saying that Lebron was a better rookie. Magic maybe was the best rookie ever. I just meant that in terms of salient impact, it jsnt something we'd pinpoint the way we would with Bird, Hakeem, Duncan etc because his team record was already good.
But I agree with you. No sane human being is comparing rookie Lebron to rookie Magic.

Untrue
The firepower and talent we had gave Magic unlimited assets to bank on dimes and free roam as a floor general
Draft him on a 17 win team with 2nd/3rd option Ricky Davis and Jeff McCinnis his impact drops immediatly

Nah man I like LeBron but he's nowhere near magic as a passer. Magic was insane. Give magic a trash team like you mentioned and he'll still get 10 assists and 20 pts as the man. Kareem didn't have an impact on magics assists really at all.

Yeah I've heard people say that but I never really know how much weight to give that because people have said I have other alts and I only have the one. That's gay as hell if your right though

Good players can feed off each other -
Its easy to improve wins when the team already has talent in place, even if it isn't winning - Lebron had the East 2-time all-star center that he ran a lot of stuff through, and then he added a 1st team defender sidekick in Larry Hughes, along with the future COY/stellsr defensive coach
Otoh, mj had zero teammates with any accolades, so his 11-win rookie improvement was done without synergies from other top players.. if rookie mj had jack sikma already there but losing (and just needing mj to unlock the talent), the bulls improve 20+ wins.. thats the situation bron was in with zydrunas... like, AD will probably improve the Lakers a bunch because they already have talent there, despite being lottery
