View Full Version : The problem with saying that 2011 was just an off year

The problem is every year is like a pass. Ever watch that movie Ground Hog Day? In 2015 The King shot 39 pct but he gets a pass because he was playing with Dellevedoba and won 2 out of 6. He’s been playing 16 years and every year there’s always an excuse.

Problem is every time he has won, it’s only been by a hair. Not convincing wins. My question is what’s the point of being the Goat if you can’t show for it? If I was a fan, I’d be disappointed. It’s okay to be frustrated.

The year 2011 was fine, that questionable week in june following a pretty good playoffs was the problem.

He didn't have 2011 passivity in 2015. Not to mention a vastly inferior cast. 2011 isn't just about him losing, it's how he lost.
exactly.

But he was exposed for his poor efficiency at high volume - the only Finals where he's dominated from start to finish with no obvious holes in his play is 2012

In 2015, the easy targets are efficiency, defense, and didn't command double team (see first target)

In 2014, the easy target is passivity (17 shots a game), and defense

In 2013, the easy targets are . Everything

In 2017 and 2018, the target is margin of defeat despute having multiple star teammates in 17'

Btw, lebron doesn't win when he averages a super-ton because his offense is suboptimal (slow, slow-hitting), whereas mj won all the time wuth high averages (35+) because his offense is optimal (quick)
.

07, 15, and 18 should all be excused as he had no chance and it wouldn

He shot less than 20% from outside the paint that series. If it weren't for Battier completely abusing Ibaka and Harden shitting the bed, it would have been a much different series.

LeBron was struggling with back problems all season in 2015. (https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/22778062/how-lebron-james-fixed-back-track-play-all-82-games-nba). It was probably his worst prime year even worse than 2011, although at least he played aggressively if not efficiently in 2015. 2015 doesn't say much other than any injured LeBron is still very dangerous.
