View Full Version : Dave Chappelle has the left fuming over his new Netflix comedy

I have heard nothing but praise from right leaning media outlets but it's either silence and shock from the left or outright condemnation from the left.

This is the way comedy should be. Balance. Black and white targets. Straight and gay. Conservative and liberal. No one off limits. :applause:

https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/59ngpb/you-can-definitely-skip-dave-chappelles-new-netflix-special-sticks-and-stones

Chappelle has always been a daredevil comedian willing to take a controversial stance or downplay a serious controversy for laughs, including his early-2000s skits about R. Kelly's court trials on Chappelle's Show. But now he chooses to blatantly ignore the historic criticism against his style of comedy and new loud-and-clear criticism from the trans community. His approach comes off like a defiant rejection of change at any cost. As he keeps going down this path, drawing attention to the worst aspects of his important career, the biggest cost will be tarnishing his own legacy

He especially went after the trans community. Someone here is not going to be happy :oldlol:

I thought this was his worst stand-up. I dunno, I raised an eyebrow how he opened it, kinda dumb.

The LGBTQ Car Ride analogy joke was brilliant.

Some really good parts but overall, his worst major special for me

that man gave up a guaranteed $50 million, during a recession. because it went against his beliefs and he didn't want to sell out. he wandered the wilderness for like 15 years on some kwai chang kaine shit.

now he's back, like a wise grizzled black ben kenobi to drop some knowledge on us.

he did it all for us.

What happened?

What happened?

when he signed his deal with comedy central, it was based off profit sharing - a 50/50 split? his show turned out to be a HUGE hit so comedy central tried to sneak out of that deal and offered him 50 million instead (and they wouldnt budge on that), when a 50/50 split would have been in the 100+

something along those lines.

I remember when liberals used to champion freedom of speech. Nowadays if they had their way everyone would be censored

Loved the impression at the beginning with audience yelling, "Trump" to picking up something from waaaay back and trying to ruin careers. Completely and utter tone deaf. It's the left and liberals doing this in today's society. And anything from the right has been retaliation.

I wish Patrice O'Neal was still alive.

Louis C.K. did a bit about the word ****** as well. Also hilarious.

Libs are so confused.

Hating Dave will make them racist.

Supporting Dave will make them homophobic.

It's been funny watching the narrative go from "it's too offensive" to "it's boring", like it's somehow gonna convince people not to watch it.

That's because Liberals used to believe in individual rights.

Nowadays, those labeled as Liberals want guvmnet to wipe they ass.

He would have still taken that. Big issue is they wanted him to be a monkey dancing for them and doing what they said, when they didn't know shit about comedy and he made the show what it was. Add the crazy popularity and the guy wanted a break.

If you watch the Q&A session after the special, he tells a great story about a trans person encouraging him to keep doing his comedy. Some people are just hardwired to not be able to take a joke and now they have Twitters and Instagrams and everyone has to hear their outrage.

This is what Carlin used to do; he didn
