Forget the stats. The 42/8/6 on 50+% means nothing. It's irrelevant when discussing why games like these (which happened far too often in Jordan's career) make him the undisputed GOAT. The fear that is instilled on the other team by his dominance is absolutely unmatched. You literally have 3+ people running at him jumping on his back play after play after play and he's finding every which way, in ways that shouldn't even be possible, to put that ball in the hoop. The entire building just in awe at this inhuman individual display of basketball.
This too at 35 years old. People have games like this once in a while but for Jordan it seemed like it was every single game. And I don't mean scoring an empty 40pts, anyone can do that. The way that Jordan scored to get his was deflating at another level for the opposing defense. Instilling the fear into the opposing team and the entire opposing arena, including the refs who laughed hysterically at the absurdity of Jordan's godlike basketball skill (as per the announcers). That's the difference.
I guess there's a reason that one of the most competitive humans ever and arguably the GOAT during his time, Larry Bird, called a 2nd year player "God disguised as Michael Jordan".

This is an example of how dangerous he was. That crossover in the beginning? who does something that lightning fast?
There was double and triple teams on him any chance the defense got. He was scoring every single quick way possible and not just step back from the same spot for 3.

This dude hasn't played a game of basketball in like 15 years and we get 5 topics a day about him. There's nothing new to talk about. We should have an MJ day every year, and then just assume that everyone already knows about him the rest of the time.

I agree to a certain extent.
One of the reasons some of us do talk about him is to teach the youth. There's people out there that still haven't seen him play. There's people out there still that don't know much about him other than the shoes. There's people out there that still don't understand why he's considered the GOAT.
So yeah, while some of the threads are annoying and unnecessary (from both sides), sometimes threads like these are needed as a reminder.
Otherwise people forget and you have idiots like Morey saying Harden is a better scorer and idiot on ESPN he played against nobodies.

Yeah, I remember Morey saying that and thinking that it was dumb. MJ scored at a significantly higher rate per-100 possessions in the playoffs than Harden.
Maybe we need an "MJ is GOAT perimeter player" sticky with like 50 .gifs

:applause:
We all know about his physical talents but it was his mind that truly made him the GOAT. Every time he stepped on the court, whether in practice or an NBA finals game, he came to destroy you. Never took a step back. Never let up. Never gave his opponent's anything.

MJ scored his first 13 points with like 3 dribbles .. the bucket he had at the 13:02 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPvc14b_m-0&t=13m02s) shows his instinct of what move will elude the defense.. a genius ball player

Maybe if we saw anything remotely close since seeing MJ live, there wouldn't be 5 topics a day about him.

I loved this comment from the comments section:
"Lebron rarely gets doubled because of the threat of shooters so he can put up all the stats he wants but with curry & MJ even when you doubled them they still score & create for others"
So mainstream fans know about what Stan Van Gundy said beat Lebron in the 09' ECF - Stan said they beat Lebron by not doubling him because he doesn't punish you enough as a scorer
Ultimately, his lack of double teams and ball-dominant style prevent him from elevating or developing teammates, so he must team-hop for ready-made veteran stars and teams that can win immediately (no developmentor elevation needed)

It's not at all about degree of difficulty...it's about how the impact of Jordan's offensive dominance absolutely took over his era.
