View Full Version : Giannis Antetokounmpo Still = Scrub In FIBA: Outplayed By Alex Garcia
Euroleague

A 39 year old, 6-4 shooting guard, that plays in the Brazilian national league, named Alex Garcia, outplayed the NBA "MVP" Giannis Antetokounmpo....constantly keeping him from being able to do anything on offense, even getting his shots off..........
:lol :oldlol:
The NBA is the most ridiculously overrated POS soft candy ass league there is in sports.
As for Giannis specifically, he's now been a scrub in FIBA play since 2013, and Greece still plays better without him on their team........

Lettuce be real here, if Giannis were in the euroleague where the rules aren't skewed heavily in favor of athleticism he'd be a mismatch bench guy.

Time and time again.
Rules aren't enforced in the NBA and defense is frowned upon.

EuroLeague GOAT Anthony Parker was a scrub in the NBA.
EuroLeague's Finest Vasaline Shitnoulis was a scrub in the NBA.
Best PG in EuroLeague, Milos Teodosic, couldn't get playing time over two rookies and Avery Bradley.

Anthony Parker has never been the EuroLeague GOAT. A few years back, EuroLeague named him the 10th best American player (just Americans) in EuroLeague - he didn't even make the top 25 EuroLeague players list.
If you are going to troll, at least come up with even a halfway decent troll shtick. Because coming with such weak trolls as that, really makes you look like a dumb ass.

I love how you conveniently ignored the other two

Comes to the NBA, loses playing time to a rookie his first year, a second round pick ffs, and then once again his second year. Along with Avery Bradley

Again, with made up total bs.
Yes, Teodosic was once considered the best point guard in EuroLeague (not when he came to the NBA, but whatever, I'll give you that one).
He was never considered the "best player never to play in the NBA".......put down the crack pipe.
You could make your point much more coherently, if you just stuck to facts, rather than making up crap that isn't true.

Oh, an NBA only fan that writes fluff pieces for the NBA said it.........must be true then.
The same GM survey once picked a 13th man from a EuroLeague team as "best player not in the NBA". They also once picked a guy that was cut from EuroCup teams (level below EuroLeague) - yeah clearly experts on the subject........what a freaking joke.
If you went to a European basketball site and claimed Teodosic was the best player to never play in the NBA - you would be banned probably right away for such absurd trolling.
I don't know if he would have even made the top 5 Serbians that had not played in the NBA. You have a limited basketball knowledge. You have no clue at all about anything outside NBA.
He was at one time considered a top 3 point guard in EuroLeague.....actually I don't recall him ever being considered the best point guard in EuroLeague.

So we send in the weakest Team USA with NBA Players yet and they are struggling (but still haven't lost a game that matters)
But Team USA (obviously with all NBA Players) have won and gone undefeated in the last 5 FIBA Tournaments. Yes undefeated in the last 5 tournaments. No country in any sport has had such a dominate performance. We all know if the US sends the best NBA players the US would win every game like what is going to happen in the Olympics.
Let me post the scores of the most recent gold medal games of FIBA Tournaments.
2016 Olympics: USA 96 Serbia 66

That's not really an excuse to not score though if Greek is on the level that his Stan's put him on. Mj, Bron, Kobe and Shaq used to crush double and triple teams. Greek dosnt have any moves beside the euro. His half court offence isnt great. He has no post game, no mid range and he can't shoot threes. His first step is also pretty mediocre so he can't blow by defences on the perimeter. That said I don't think Greek struggling in summer fiba games really means anything. Most great players score alot less in the Olympics than they do in the nba.

They all passed out of doubles for the most part b/c they are all smart players. Jordan dealt with them the least b/c there was no zone D in his era to cover up for the man you took off for the double. Kobe would go against them the most for his late game hero ball shots but he also had a terrible FG% in those situations. Shaq's doubles were almost always exclusively him getting fouled in an effort to make him miss FTs or to force him to pass the ball out which he usually did.
None of them ever faced many triple teams b/c those completely break a defense if the trap fails.

People are being too hard on Giannis - he's a weak MVP but the era is weak and he's still better than 07' Lebron, who similarly stunk it up on the international stage and was capable of worse shooting:
Giannis 19' ECF...'' vs. Champs - 23/14/6 on 44.8 fg.. 23.7% on jumpers
Lebron. 07' Finals vs. Champs - 22/7/6.. on 35.6 fg.. 17.9% on jumpers

It's much harder to use athleticism to dominate in FIBA rules. Smaller court, more physical, no rules restricting defense from packing the paint. There were 3 physical plays on shooters in the first 5 minutes of this Greece-Turkey game that would have been free throws in the NBA...no call in FIBA. A guard for Greece did the "pull up short in front of a defender" move Trae Young uses....no call...but he absolutely bashed his defender with his back and sailed in for a layup anyways.
Only elite off the dribble shooters can dominate in FIBA play. Otherwise it's a more team-based effort

The NBA morons made Papagiannis gain 60 pounds in order to "bulk up". He has since lost the 60 pounds after he went back to Europe, because the European coaches (which are much smarter) wouldn't let him play at such a ridiculous weight that the NBA had him at.
The morons in the NBA ruined his career by making him add so much unneeded and unnecessary eight to his frame.
