The best thing about the internet is that it empowers mankind to access virtually all of the accumulated knowledge of our species.
The worst thing about the internet is that it provides endless distraction and meaningless entertainment, shriveling most peoples' attention spans and addicting them to quick-fix kicks.

The best part is you can find out information about anything almost immediately. The worst part is sometimes that information is dead wrong or has so much spin that you get the wrong impression due to politically biased websites pretending to be neutral.

best: opened other avenues of communication such as this one(message boards) and the ability to communicate globally is much easier and the abundance of information available
worst: all the evilness and gore is also available for anyone who wants it which has corrupted who knows how many people and scarred who knows how many kids .. and porn .. porn I think is really bad for guys .. warps their mind and changes their perception of women

On a micro level, the worst part is it connects the worst of mankind
Terrible ideas and mindsets connect and feel they're normal because "other people think that too"
Before the internet it was tough to find someone in person to say "yeah, i agree, bombing a marathon is a good idea." but w/ the internet you can connect with anons who say "yeah, you should do that. that's a fairly reasonable idea. here's how you can do it"
on a macro level, people are more depressed and lonely. they compare themselves to who/what they see online and isolate themselves from the real world
