How far back should you stand at an ATM?

I got into an argument today because some lady posted up like three feet behind me at an outdoor ATM.

It made me wonder what other people think about this.

Should you be five feet away? Ten feet? What etiquette do you expect when you're at the cash machine?

I give people at least 10-15' of space. Basically as much as I can without compromising the fact that I'm next.

If nobody else is around, I won't even get out of my truck until the person at the ATM is finished.

I asked her to give more space, because it's rude to crowd the person at the machine. I was polite at first. She responded like an impatient child.
