[QUOTE]"Look at my African American over here. Look at him. Are you the greatest? You know what I'm talking about," Trump said.

At the time, Cheadle was thrilled, defending the quip in a CNN interview. Had it happened today, he said he might have responded differently.

"When you do things retrospectively, it's almost unfair," Cheadle said. "When that thing happened, everyone was laughing. I mean, it was funny. ... Since then, it's turned into a nightmare for me."

Cheadle said he questions the president's motivation for saying that, but stipulated that he is neither condemning nor condoning it.
Cheadle said he doesn't think the president necessarily intends to be racially insensitive, but that he has a Eurocentric world view which filters certain issues through a "white superiority complex."

Cheadle indicated that some Republicans' resistance to change might keep them from breaking away from the party as he did.

"They're not strong enough to venture out and say, 'No, this is not what I'm about,'" he said. "Maybe, just maybe, my doing this will encourage people to step out

Deflecting with a random claim of deflection.... pretty unoriginal.

It's not "Klu", it's "Ku".

If you're holding the most powerful seat in the political world, it shouldn't be too much to ask that you have the literacy and speaking ability of an educated adult.

I would think it's not a bad thing if he's not all that knowledgeable on the kkk

I wouldn't mind the US economy returning to it's 2005 glory, obviously without the housing crisis...

Or it's 90's glory days as the world's biggest economy

Or simply get back to growing the economy at the textbook 3-4% GDP growth, like we used to

Yeah.. make America great again.. like it was before - MAGA is a factual economic message about how we've fallen from our perch economically, infrastructure-wise, technology-wise, trade-wise and jobs-wise.

MAGA infact has nothing to do with race.. what does Trump know about race? Why would MAGA be a racial message? Everyone knows we were never great at race, or even "okay" at it, so it's intellectual dishonestly or sheer panic to turn MAGA into a racial message

I personally don't mind his attacks on various people like Elijah Cummings... He's an equal-opportunity attacker - if John McCain's district had a lot of dirty areas with high crime, he would've leveled the same attack at McCain ...

As it was, his attacks on McCain and others are as harsh as anyone he's attacked... he's challenging some of the perceptions people have about what is racist and what isn't.. I like what he's doing.. during Obama's term, his election was critical for race in this country, but we actually ignored the racial issues during his entire presidency.. Now we're addressing all of them head-on and I think people are being enlightened and getting smarter about race than we've ever been
