The skill difference between West and the East for the past 20 years has been the most lopsided difference in the conferences in recent history. For proof please refer to:

It is truly amazing what Steph Curry was able to accomplish as the most dangerous offensive catalyst on one of the greatest teams we have ever seen in history and the mental fortitude it took to bring the team to 5 straight finals in the toughest conference in history with multiple top 20 HOFs duking it out in the first round every single year.

West

The West actually wasn't that good. How many teams did the warriors beat in the western conference during those 5 years that had more than 1 all star on them? Can't be bothered to check but I'm willing to bet that most of those teams either only had one all star or had 2 but one was hurt.

Oh and any good team in the NBA could make it to the finals and win a few if they added the second best player in the world

The Warriors had like two challenging series that whole run--(Rockets 18 and OKC 16). Other than that, the West has basically been a cakewalk. Warriors' playoff win percentage against the West the last five years is 77% and it's 61% against the East. They have won multiple series without Curry.

West has plenty of pretenders, but is short on real contenders. It's not as good/challenging as people make it out to be.

Warriors beat up on a bunch of injury riddled teams. West was weaker than ever

While GSW didn't have it as difficult as some west teams of the past, it was a bloodbath compared to LeBron's 9 trips to the finals.
