I imagine they still have to add a couple new coaches and make some promotions but let's get started! Should be the best season in Utah in a couple of decades if not the best ever

The addition of Mike Conley creates a new big three for this Jazz team with Rudy Gobert manning the paint and protecting the rim and Donovan Mitchell who will be looking to make another leap in year three.
more of a big one and I'd put Bojan in there with Mitchell and Conley
To replace Favors, the Jazz signed Bojan Bogdanovic who is a terrific floor spacer and shot creator. To improve their depth, they brought in guys like Jeff Green, Ed Davis, and Emmanuel Mudiay, all guys who are capable of contributing in a big way for their team.
Remains to be seen how much Mudiay can help

Ah, yes. Dante Exum. The perennial Ex-Factor (see what I did there?) that unfortunately has never been able to remain healthy. It may sound like the continued beating of a dead horse or the repetitive jumble of a broken record, but it remains the truth nonetheless. If Exum can finally remain healthy, reach some semblance of his potential and make an impact for the Jazz, he could very well be a game-changer.
he's already a game changer thanks to that crappy contract. Imagine having another 9 million to spend :rant

For that reason, it’s assumed he will continue that upward trajectory this year as the stakes get higher and the expectations get bigger. Leading the team in offensive responsibility should be a given. Improved efficiency is expected, as Conley and Bogdanovic should inject diversity and reliability into the Utah supporting cast. It would be a shock if he didn’t make his first All-Star appearance. The Jazz are going to be expected to be among the West’s elite teams, especially if a superteam like the Warriors, Lakers, or Clippers falters early. Mitchell is expected to carry the Jazz to at least a competitive second-round series, and considerably more locally.
Their best player isn't the one carrying them again? :lol
It’s also worth remembering that growth curves aren’t linear. We normally think of development as a linear curve — Player A starts in one place, gets better in year two, improves again in year three, etc. But it doesn’t always happen like that, and there are a lot of reasons that Mitchell could either plateau or even regress this coming year. He could struggle to adapt to the new offensive structure with Conley and Bogdanovic, and there’s still the threat of his defense not improving, which is one thing that didn’t really happen last year. Mitchell could slip back to 20-21 points per game, 35 percent shooting from 3, and around 3.5 assists per game next year, and it wouldn’t be shocking. And when you consider the rest of the West, this Jazz team could be significantly improved even if Mitchell doesn’t meet expectations … and still win around 48 games and lose in the first round.
I can see his points going down but he will be better

SALT LAKE CITY — The summer brought a somewhat significant philosophical shift for the Utah Jazz.
Yeah they finally decided to build around their best player with guys that actually fit around him. :rant
This switch is primed to have an effect on Gobert on both ends of the floor. On defense, where the Frenchman has been named the NBA’s best player two years in a row, he’ll no longer have a second excellent rim protector in Favors to share those duties with (Utah’s new backup center, Ed Davis, noted earlier this week that the plan is to not have him and the Stifle Tower play much together).
I think there will be less turnovers and long misses and the transition D will improve. No longer having the matador should help as well. More Royce.

Oni’s stat line didn’t jump off the page (he had 9 points, five rebounds and three assists). But that’s the thing with the rookie, his game shines in a lot of subtle ways. He prides himself on making the right reads, being in the right place and making the right pass — not on jumping out of the gym. So when he does do just that, it can be a little shocking.
take those numbers anytime especially in limited minutes
With Mitchell, Emmanuel Mudiay and Dante Exum all sitting out, there were some minutes to be had out on the wing, so it's not likely Oni will be asked to be a regular contributor once the season starts. But it was still a good sign for the second rounder out of Yale.

It was that performance that put him in-line for a contract and a roster spot despite the fact that he fell to the Jazz in the second-round of the 2019 NBA Draft at pick No. 58. But putting summer numbers aside, the best thing about Oni may be that he looks the part of a legitimate NBA player in spite of his draft position.

Transition defense. The Jazz allowed the Kings to score 24 fast break points tonight, way too many. Part of that was because the Jazz turned the ball over 20 times, a result of them being a little bit too careless on offense. But in truth, the Kings still scored more often than they should have: they still allowed 1.41 points per play in transition, well above league average. The Kings are an excellent transition team, but it was too easy tonight.

It cannot be understated how much the Utah Jazz roster has changed this offseason. The Jazz lost a whole list of Derrick Favors, Ricky Rubio, Jae Crowder, Kyle Korver, Raul Neto, Grayson Allen, Thabo Sefolosha, Ekpe Udoh, and two way contracts Tyler Cavanaugh and Naz Mitrou-Long. On the flip side, the Jazz have gotten arguably the best or second best player of two other teams (Mike Conley and Bojan Bogdanovic, from the Grizzlies and Pacers), rounded out the squad with multiple high level role players (Jeff Green, Ed Davis, Emmanuel Mudiay), and added more young talent through the draft. So, with all of these changes, where are the weaknesses in the new team?

If Royce and Dante can make shots from the outside (+35%) and keep playing good defense, they will be playing a bunch. Are second unit would be very good too. [QUOTE]Since arriving in Utah, Quin Snyder has developed a culture of player development and improvement. He has led the Jazz to a 227-183 record which is impressive considering his first season started the year after Utah had one of its worst seasons in franchise history. He helped develop Rudy Gobert into a defensive player of the year winner. He coached Gordon Hayward into an All-Star. He helped Derrick Favors in his transition from power forward to center and through injuries. One of his assistants was even hired as a head coach in Phoenix, Igor Kokoskov. He is credited with polishing diamond in the rough prospects like Joe Ingles and Royce O

The other hypothetical is they could cut both and go after another player. David J. Smith pointed this out the yesterday on Twitter. Back in 2014, the Utah Jazz cut Carrick Felix when some scrub named Joe Ingles became available. Crazier things have happened.
there's some good players available now and with their lack of depth I'd think they'd be looking that way. May be looking to see if they get a waiver claim on someone before deciding on the two left

Joe Ingles joins Bojan Bogdanovic as the only two players the Utah Jazz have guaranteed on contract through that year. Though those two will most likely be joined by Donovan Mitchell who will probably be on a max extension contract from his rookie deal and Rudy Gobert who could possibly be receiving a super max.
way too early to say Gobert will be back. O'Neale will hopefully be signed next summer and Conley for a pay cut in a couple years as well

Jake: Bogdonavic was a huge addition to the Jazz during this offseason, but he still has a long way to go. He did not look like the same Bogdanavic that averaged 18 points per a game and shot 49.7% from the field. Bogdonavic made a lot of high impact plays that can’t be recorded on the stat sheet, but as far as the numbers go, he has some work to do. He shot poorly from the field and was unable rack up points as he normally is able.
agreed/ I was very impressed with Bojan despite his shooting. Being able to run the offense through him?
The defensively questionable lineups will be Donovan-Conley-Bogey combos, with a dearth of length. These guys may have to outscore (vs. stop) opponents and Snyder must be thinking hard about augmenting these three with both Royce and Rudy. And he may be tempted to supplant one of the three with Dante Exum at times to provide more length and an improved overall D (while obviously sacrificing some O).
The same Dante that is still hurt from last season or the one that just acted like a bitch because Oni made a play on him? How bout Ingles instead?
Mark: No. My initial prognosis of the Jazz was that they would be (a) a dominant regular season team that pounded on weak teams and (b) a challenging playoff out that would struggle against top-end talent and experience. Both of those aspects will remain true: Even if the defense is, at worst, league average, the vastly-improved offense will disorient bad teams with extreme ease to allow the Jazz to get to a comfortable 55 wins. On the other hand, the relatively problematic depth and an inconsistent defense keeps me pessimistic about their chances to win a best-of-7 against the best teams.
Agreed except the last part. As one of the best teams they will be at the top of the list for buyouts not to mention trades. I'd expect the roster to look different by the end of the year. Just hope their lack of depth doesn't cost them too much early
Allen: I still having the Jazz with mid-50s wins and with the top seed, with the Clippers advancing to the finals. One concern is that Jazz’s 10-15 spots are all developmental and, while having youngsters in the pipeline is good, any injury that propels them into the main rotation could be problematic given how tight the west will be. If I am in Dennis Lindsay’s shoes, I’d think long and hard about sacrificing a couple of youngsters and adding established vets to the end of the bench. Guys who may have lost a step, but you know what you’ll get when you put them on the floor and who are satisfied with a “in case of fire break glass” role.
They drafted well and Brantley really deserved a spot as well which made it tough. Goss has earned his shot with his play the past couple of years. Exum and the non guaranteed spot of Kidd is where I'd be looking for help. Maybe after December they'll be able to package Exum's contract with young guys and picks for an upgrade and open some roster spots for flexibility going into the buyout season
Preseason Rudy has been cruising and saving himself for the regular season. Making an All-Star team is important to him and he knows that if the Jazz are in a top 4 seed and his scoring improves (likely with improved spacing), he should finally be an All-Star. His leadership and energy are contagious and should propel the Jazz. So, unlike many seeing and sawing manic-depressive fans, I remain bullish on the 2019-20 season.
Mitchell will probably make the all-star team before him sadly

Isaac Adams: I expected the Jazz defense to be a little worse after losing Derrick Favors and Jae Crowder, and I still believe that it will be just that: a little worse, and not catastrophic. That said, we definitely learned that the team is going to take some time to gel defensively. As bad as it looked, some of the defensive woes were just hot shooting opponents. NBA opponents shot .435 from 3 and .528 overall against the Jazz this preseason. For comparison, the historically bad 2018-19 Cavs defense only allowed .380 from three and .495 from the field.
I think the defense might be better just because the offense is better. More made shots and less turnovers because of better spacing. The defense might still be behind the offense though!
[QUOTE]Mark Russell Pereira: The Conley-Mitchell-Ingles-Bogdanovic-Gobert1 lineup will be a scorching nightmare for young, bad, tired, or lazy defenses. I thought it would be good, but the limited sample exhibited a collective intelligence that can execute second- and third-level decisions without thought. We
