Didn't we just have a poll earlier this year where MJ ran away with it? Nothing has changed since then :confusedshrug:

LeBron will have less votes now that a bunch of Simon's alts have been banned.

All 40 MVP's since the 3-point line began in 1980 were dominant offensive players, so 1-way defenders like Russell wouldn't be MVP-caliber in the modern era

Since dominant offense is the MVP standard of the modern era, the goat is the player that won the most as "the man", meaning your team's best offensive player

That's obviously MJ, who won 6 rings as his team's best offensive player, while 2nd place only had 2 or 3 rings as "the man" (Shaq, Magic, Bird, Lebron, Kobe, Durant, Kawhi)

I'm not sure I agree with your rationale (i.e. Dwight Howard almost won MVP in 2010-11, and Dwight's offense was about as good as Shaq's defense in 1999-00), but it seems clear that MJ was the best player in the world for more than five years as some might infer from his MVP count.

Some might infer that he was only the best player in the world for five years based on his regular season MVP count.

It's not even that type of award, as we know, but whatever.

you didn't find an exception though (all 40 MVP's in the modern era/3-pointer basketball were dominant offensive players)

so you didn't refute what I said - and the non-example you provided was infact a dominant offensive player

There's many levels to this - Dwight wasn't on Shaq's level of offensive domination, but he was a huge post presence that Orlando consistently fed and ran their offense through - he absolutely dominated offensively and on the post - he simply doesn't compare to Russell, a purely scrappy player offensively..

The Cavs couldn't stop Dwight in the ECF because he dominated the block - Russell never did anything like that offensively - he was never this big post option offensively

Career PPG Playoffs

1) Jordan...... 33.5

2) Iverson..... 29.7
3) West......... 29.1
4) Lebron...... 28.9
5) Durant...... 28.8
6) Barry......... 27.3
7) Elgin......... 27.0
8) Gervin...... 26.5
9 Curry......... 26.0
10) Hakem... 25.9

That's not going to happen.

LeBron and it's not really close

MJ and Kobe only specialize in a couple of things

LeBron can do absolutely everything on a basketball court- he's the perfect player 6'8 250 with godlike athleticism, GOAT finishing abilty, GOAT passing abilty and GOAT scoring abilty

CP3, Nash, Magic, and others average far more APG and are better passers

MJ and Wilt average far more PPG and are better scorers

There is infact nothing that Lebron is #1 at on a per game level .. not a single category

Otoh, MJ is the goat scorer (PPG and scoring titles), goat defensive guard, goat mid-range shooter, and goat clutch player... Magic is the goat APG and passer.. Bird is the goat stretch 4 (combination of shooting/passing/rebounding), and kobe has the most moves and can get the hottest...

Lebron simply has no clear-cut goat identity unless you make some shit up, i.e. "stretch 3 ball-handling wing".. sorry but Grant Hill, Penny, and Magic precede Lebron..

And scorer-passer is too ambiguous and not clear-cut, where a lot of guys can argue for it (including MJ), so lebron can't claim that.. i.e. 41/9/6 in the 93' Finals is a better scorer-passer performance than 30/11/9 (16' Finals).. So is 31/5/5 career averages vs 27/7/7 - see, it's debateable and that's the point... MJ also averaged 33/8/8 in 1989 and he's the only player to average 30/5/5 for career in RS or PO.. only player to average 30/11 apg in the Finals... Only player to average 40/6 in a playoff series (several times), etc, etc... If someone else can legitimately argue for a category, then the player doesn't have it

LeBron has GOAT athleticism for one who else possesses a speed/power/size combo as good as LeBron? he's a physical specimen

LeBron has GOAT versatility, can defend 1-5 and play either PG or Scorer at a GOAT level. MJ can't defend 1-5 nor can he play PG at a GOAT level (Pippen led the Bulls in total assists)

LeBron has GOAT longevity as well, when it's all said and done LeBron will end up number 1 in damm near every single stat. He's already passed your hero in total points :oldlol:

Ok, he's got something there.. i.e. biggest and most athletic ball-handler or something

Whooptiwhoo...

still not goat or anywhere near

And goat size/ball-handling isn't as clear-cut as goat scorer, goat mid-range shooter, goat clutch player or goat defensive guard

Or Magic's goat passer... Or Bird/Curry's goat shooting.. so lebron's ball-handler schtick isn't nothing, but it's not goat either

MJ isn't the clear cut GOAT mid range - Kobe and KD have strong arguments

And Moncrief and Allen are arguably better defenders than MJ

MJ is not more clutch than Bird either. At least not as clear cut as you make it out to be

Still the goat scorer and surely he's goat at 1 of the 3 things that you disputed

I'd take him for all 3.. his mid-range must be goat - no one else led the league by shooting midrange jumpers like MJ - 1200 attempts in 1997 at 49%???... No idea be is close to that volume, except kobe - I think they're the best jumpshooters ever because they could shoot such he gh volume and contested shots

Jordan's running away with the poll just like the one that was made a month ago, and Dr. J, unsurprisingly, has had absolutely zero influence on the poll results

MJ running away with it again.

Gonna take a bit longer to put huge distance between him and the rest of the field since ISH activity is low right now due to the fact that NBA hoops is in the off-season but again, no contest.
