Why Lebron has the GOAT peak? Provide me with some evidence, Vino24.

Not a problem. 12/13 LeBron was easily the best perimeter player defensively of all time.

Now even close .. :facepalm ... :oldlol:

2012-2013 was his physical peak

So at his physical peak (2013), he was a net negative in the championship

his team literally lost the Finals when he was on the floor - fortunately, various teammates' net positives offset Lebron's negative to allow victory

(playing all 5 positions plus insane defense) 2016 was his mental peak ( goat comeback chip)

Defense?

It's easy to beat up on an injured 6-footer that can't dunk - heck, Lebron had his sidekick destroy Curry

But where was the "insane defense" just 1 year later in 2017 against Durant?.. No all-time great ever let their man get 36 on 56%... Except Lebron... If Lebron holds him to 25 on 45%, the Cavs win easily.. But with Durant on automatic, the flood gates opened up for his teammates

Lier. LeBron was facing the greatest superteam in NBA history so your 2017 talk is irrelevant. Steph, Klay, Green, and KD? Stacked. LeBron was the 1st player to avg a triple double in NBA Finals. 3ball twisting facts once again. Such a beta poster.

The stats and facts above speaks for themselves, summarized again below:

1) MJ's 1991 was a far greater peak then Lebron's 2013

2) Lebron was a net negative in the 13' Finals (his so-called "peak") - Heat lost with him on floor

3) Even without considering Draymond's suspension or Bogut's injury, the Cavs had better supporting talent in 2016 - this was proven by Lebron's 2nd option demolishing the Warriors' 1st option in a goat 2nd option performance (goat help)

4) Lebron is the only all-time great to ever give up 36 on 56% to his matchup - the worst defense ever - if he holds Durant to his regular season PPG (25 PPG), the Cavs win easily.

Guards rarely lead in DRtg or DBPM because they're a measure of steals, blocks and defensive rebounds...

The defensive rebound aspect favors frontcourt players over guards... i.e. the defensive rebound aspect is why Bird has lower DRtg and DBPM than Pippen

The makers of DRtg and DBPM state that the defensive advanced stats only have a few inputs (stl, blk, dreb) and therefore don't capture the full defensive picture... therefore the defensive advanced stats shouldn't be used if the defender in question is a known bad defender or known good defender - reputation trumps the stat

LeBron as GOAT peak is arguable, but by no means definitive. KAJ has GOAT longevity. LeBron is getting close though. LeBron has best combo of extended high level peak/prime combined with longevity.

His peak is definitely up there, but you'd have the likes of Jordan, Shaq, Hakeem, Kareem, Wilt etc. who could all be argued as having a better one. Imo he's closer to having GOAT longevity than peak. Kareem was, amazingly, still First Team All-NBA caliber at 38-39, so LeBron's still got a few years to go to before he can claim that

His peak is up there but not GOAT. For me, he’s never had that feeling of being unbeatable when it mattered most i.e. the playoffs the way Jordan, Shaq, and Hakeem has had at times. In the regular season, sure, 2010 and 2013 come to mind, but he seemed to vulnerable in the playoffs.

As far as longevity goes, he might, but it’s not a foregone conclusion like everyone says. He’s more durable then Kobe, but there was a lot of similar talk about him leading up to when he tore his achilles, which was in his 17th season like Lebron will be heading into now. People tend to overestimate how long someone will play. He could be done very soon if he gets hurt, and he did get hurt last year. It’s not a foregone conclusion that he surpasses Kareem or Malone in this regard.

It's close but LeBron is behind mj in both. Mj's peak stats were better and he won more. As far as longevity goes mj won at 34 where LeBron hasn't won past 31 and probably won't win again so longevity goes to mj also.

GOAT peak, no way...players that I've seen that I would put over LBJ are MJ, Bird, Shaq and Hakeem. Can't really comment on peak KAJ and Wilt but stats say they have an argument over James too.

LBJ is still going strong going on his 17th season, not the player he once was but still going strong, we'll see in the coming years if he can challenge KAJ and Malone for longevity.

Ainosterhaspie
09-26-2019, 11:54 AM
LeBron is currently tied with Kareem and Kobe for most All-NBA teams at 15. If he makes All-NBA this year is reasonable to argue he's got greatest longevity due to having the most years as a top 15 player.

If you want to eliminate second and third team awards, LeBron has the most first team All-NBA awards with 12. (Karl Malone 11, Kobe 11, Kareem 10, MJ 10) It is credible to claim that as things stand right now, no one has played at as high a level as LeBron for longer than LeBron.

KAJ demanded double teams when he was 38. LBJ gets single coverage at his peak.

Roundball_Rock

Peak no but longevity arguably, with the caveat that he started out of high school. So it is entirely possibly LeBron will produce more superstar seasons than Kareem did--but also be much worse than Kareem was at 38 or 39. Still, it is a credit to LeBron. No other high school player produced immediately.

, LeBron has the most first team All-NBA awards with 12. (Karl Malone 11, Kobe 11, Kareem 10, MJ 10)

One difference is with C's there is only 1 first team slot and for F's and G's 2. There are less centers who play but the number of players competing for first team slots is about the same at each position.

No he does not already have the peak lol. Lebron can't see '89-'93 MJ or prime KAJ. He will likely have (maybe already has) the best longevity in terms of playing at an elite level for the longest. Though I feel that that is aided by the wide open, unphysical nature of the game today as well as the "supplements."
