When they took Spiderman back Sony was basically the dog that caught the mail truck. They did not consider what they would do with the truck once they caught it. So the dog has decided to make what I predict will be the biggest bomb of all time.

Hopefully this is just a bluff to get Disney to offer more money. Because Sony really has no clue what the **** they're doing otherwise.

I would imagine they would try to present her in a trailer like the character from the 90s Spiderman animated series to get the current 40-year-olds who were kids then to come out for the opening weekend but get there and realize it

Also my young misogynist self got sick of her being such a know-it-all to Spidey. That last part may not bother me now but no part of her character sounds like something you base a superhero movie on. I could see her as a Tales from the Crypt style host of a series like What If. But who is making a movie out of a character that Marvel wouldn't even give a comic? If this is serious Sony has no clue, they are just throwing shit out there and probably don't even like comics or care about the source material. We need this movie to lose a hundred million.

If so, perhaps they’ll use her to introduce other spider people? Just seems like an odd choice to center an entire movie around. Other than comic fans, she isn’t really a known commodity.

There is little interest even among those who know of her. No one woke up today and texted their boy like, "Yoooooooo, bruh!!!! Dey makin a Madame Webb movie, son!!!! Remember we were talking about how ill that would be, my dude!!!!"

People who were talking shit about Disney when they lost Spider-Man don’t realize how ****ing Sony will saturate the market with shitty Spider-Man spinoffs

Fun side-fact: Marvel can't kill off Madame Web out of spite because they already did. She not only wasn't popular enough for a comic, she wasn't even interesting enough to be kept alive. They replaced her with another character that no one cares about.

I was wondering how the hell Sony could turn their backs on this multi-billion dollar cash cow. This is good news. They may now make as many movies about Aunt May as they want.

Someone at Sony thinks that Madame Webb is a good movie idea. Someone else at Sony therefore knows that they don't have any good ideas, and had best leave Spidey to the professionals. Whether they make a long-term contract or not Spiderman is going to be MCU, Sony can't turn down this money.

I just read the article, apparently Feige hinted Spider-Man might appear in a Sony verse movie

I think feige did help produce intro to the spider verse as well. I think we might have a secret deal between both companies. My guess is Feige will be a

Here's what Sony should do... produce an animated series like the clone wars to fill in the gaps between the Spiderman feature films. The only challenge to that would be separating itself from the fox cartoon.

Great news.

Looks like there will be 2 movies actually. Solo Spiderman movie and a MCU movie (Avengers?)

In a joint announcement Friday, the two companies revealed that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige will return to produce the new film, with Amy Pascal once again producing through her Pascal Pictures.

As part of Disney and Sony’s arrangement, Spider-Man is also confirmed to appear in a future film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

It wouldn't be enough because it's an ego thing. They could do nothing but sign contracts and let Feige and Marvel do the work and make billions but they need to feel like they are in some way competent beyond some exec having the foresight to buy movie rights years ago. So instead they prove their incompetence by trying to make a superhero movie set in a retirement home.
