To get people debating the topic drives traffic to their website, and that makes them more money from their advertisers.

There is no single "Media" its just hundreds of people and their opinions. Ive heard both sides. Id lean Clippers in the playoffs much like the exec he cited would. And for one big reason....

Playoff games are won by perimeter scorers these days. And how many teams in all of basketball history could put 3 guys out there to out defend Beverly, Paul George, and Leonard at once?

Think about it for a moment.

All time.

What teams can you think of that dont have a weak link outside to make them worse as a group?

I was thinking about it on my way to work....

Jordan/Pippen/Harper is one. If they play small and put Leonard or George at the 4....Jordan/Pippen/Rodman is better.

You have Nate Mcmillian, Payton, and Mckey in some lineups in Seattle.

Mo Cheeks, Bobby Jones....and Doctor J or Toney? nah. The last 2 break it up.

Leonard, Danny Green, and Parker? Nope.

John Starks, Derek Harper, and Charles Smith?

Jerry Sloan and Vanlier with...who?

Dumars and Rodman at the 2/3 with Isiah or Vinnie at the 1? The point ruins it in this particular comparison.

Its really a thinker.

The Clippers have just about as good a trio to throw at teams trying to score late from the wing as has ever been assembled.

And thing is....they can score right back at you. Leonard just won a title doing it(granted....they won because the Warriors were destroyed by injury). George may not be Playoff P....but hes had his moments. He can score obviously. Mix in one of the eras great 6th men in Lou....Harrell who has one of the best motors of modern times. They can play the kind of defensive, close game, hustle, tough shot basketball to win in the playoffs.

Its not irrational to compare the Clippers favorably to anyone far as being built to win when it counts.

Remains to be seen how it goes but they have the people to get ugly if they have to....or create big shots.

They are a team built to win a tough series.

And to be clear the Lakers are talented enough too. I just dont know how they mesh.

Rondo/Lebron, Green, Lebron/Kuzma, Davis/Kuzma, Dwight/Mcgee at the end of a game vs Beverly, Lou, George, Leonard, and Harrell? I just feel like theres more balance on the Clippers end. More you can run. Less concerns about a bad switch. I dont know how locked in Lebron is willing to be on defense at this point. I feel like Davis is gonna have some big games but I need to see how they play together first.

I cant see the Clippers failing to mesh. Defense, effort, and mental toughness rarely fail to mesh. The Lakers I need to see. They have some redundant pieces im not sure how to play together late....

You want Kuzma out there....so maybe him at the 4 with Lebron at the 3 and Davis at the 5 where he doesnt wanna be? Rondo, Dwight, and Lebron all shooting in the 50s or 60s from the FT line on the floor together down the stretch? Nah. I dont know...

I need to see more. I need to see how they put it together.

I have less concerns about the Clippers. The clippers look more like a team. The Lakers look like a 2k fantasy draft. And I say that as someone who probably thinks Rondo and Dwight are better than most of you do.

In this case, the media is simply downplaying expectations for Lebron because they view him as a ratings driver and many prefer his nice guy routine over MJ's "I'm a dick, deal with it" persona..

Many like sticking it to MJ because he's a "mean" guy, while Lebron builds schools - that's the narrative pushed by Clutch and the media has gone for it hook, line, and sinker..

they simply like Lebron more personally and feel like he lets them in more than MJ.. they think they're lebron's friend, whereas they knew they weren't MJ's

They're also downplaying expectations because lebron needs it... He has a history of losing (3/17) and being sensitive about it, so the media helps him out... Plain and simple

The clippers are better than lakers. Kawhi > Lebron, George < Davis, Clippers role players > Lakers role players.

AD is the best player between two teams, Clippers have no one to defend him.
Lebron is still arguably better than both Kawhi & George. George got molested the last time he had to defend Bran in the Playoffs, Kawhi could slow him down but will he be healthy?

Clippers two best players have had major health issues over the past few years. George messed up both his shoulders - torn labrum and rotator cuff, Kawhi was limping in the Playoffs and has only played in 69 RS games the past two years. Lou Williams is a huge negative on defense so he's a liability in crunch time and Harrell won't be able to contain AD. Lakers have Green to throw at Kawhi and Bradley/Rondo to guard Lou or Bev. I didn't even mention Kuzma, who can give us 20-30 on any given night. Our 8-man rotation is better too. We have more depth at guard spots and at Center.

The whole post was full of bias but that was my favorite part.
