This band was way ahead of its time. When the charts were dominated by singer-songwriters, progressive concept albums and disco these guys were going in a completely different direction that influenced countless bands. After Ian Curtis' death they came back as New Order and did some cool stuff but nothing matches the dark yet beautiful sounds they generated.

I've heard New Order does a Joy Division set in concert. I like Bernard but the songs don't carry as much weight without Curtis.

It's more nostalgic for me over anything else. I certainly think it leaves a very strong first impression right out the gate. :pimp:

Ian Curtis was a mightily uninteresting fellow. Corbjin and Morton couldn't even change that.

Isolation was the first track I heard that got me into Joy Division

Shadowplay is probably their best song.

I think Joy Division will be viewed as the Beatles of indie alternative music.
