I saw the Wu-Tang Clan & Snoop Dogg this past weekend. Legends, baby. The East-West beef been over!! Wu did a rendition of 'Come Together' which was unexpected. I knew ODB son is on tour with them but that was legit to see him mimic his pops. Snoop had a couple tribute moments for Pac, Biggie, Nate Dogg & Nipsey Hustle.

Anyways, what concerts, shows or music festivals have you attended that stand out?

A few of mine would be seeing Tom Petty & The Red Hot Chili Peppers back to back nights at Firefly. I also liked Ella Goulding and Alabama Shakes' sets and I saw Kendrick Lamar's set but it wasn't that memorable.

Fleetwood Mac was pretty awesome, they were all still such good performers/ musicians.

Rush was badass. Watching Neil Pert on a 13 piece drum kit

Nas, Wu Tang and Layrn Hill were at Rock the Bells when I saw there but was too drunk/stoned/sun beat to enjoy it. I don't remember it being that good honestly.

I saw a band I liked called Lord Huron this summer, that was awesome because it was a small setting in the woods.

My boys and I saw Project Pat at a very small venue in Baltimore. We were geeked because that was our dude growing up lmao. He came out pouring Patron for everyone in the front couple rows :pimp:

I haven't been to as much live music as I would like to see more legends but I hope to go to a lot more.

What about y'all?

Not a huge fan of him, but the best concert I ever attended was Jay-Z at 2010 Bonnaroo. His command of the crowd was just incredible. It was right when "Forever Young" was hot, and that just became an anthem for that crowd in the most spectacular way. I never expected to say it about him, or any hip hop artist for that matter (nothing against rap, I just think rock music is usually better for a concert format). But there it is. Have yet to see anything better. He was the king.

Yeah, rap music def is the worst genre to see live.

That's cool though, sounds fun. I saw Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake at the Ravens stadium in Baltimore. It was cool, set pieces were out of this world amazing.

My seats were kind of far for it to be a favorite but still memorable

Metallica and AC/DC were two of the best sell out shows I've been to. Nonstop energy from the bands even past their primes.

I've been to Tool a few times. They kick more ass when Maynard's not in a bitchy mood. Great visual effects and laser show.

Puscifer is a great experience for anyone that's heard of them. They perform the album in between a bunch of comedy skits in a much smaller theater type setting. Well worth the money.

i always catch Interpol live when they roll through, they are one of those bands that play very well as a live performance.

as for rap, ehhh...not into it tbh. i listen to rap, but the usual crowd that goes is not my estilo. the only rap concert i've attended was Wale and that was like 8 years ago. he was tight, still one of my favorites. lost my phone that night, chugged like 3 fourlokos and ended up vomiting on myself, despite those events...he put on a good performance. still, not my crowd i gotta say.

my favorite bands to see in person are spanish rock bands, like Zoe or Cafe Tacvba, they go HAM in terms of passion and just outright live performances.

TBH, I hated it at first but it grew on me. I was pissed it wasn't Tool. When I got beyond that, I loved 'em.

I got shat on in my personal life at around the time I discovered Momma Sed and Humbling River and they just vibed with what I was going through.

Never really was a fan of APC. Do you like them? I find fans of one his bands don't necessarily translate to all his other projects.

Kinda true. EDM shows are even better IMO, maybe not that the girls are actually hotter, but they are sluttier and lookin to dance.

Too bad country music sucks f*ckin dick and isn't worth all the eye candy.

APC is decent. I think I liked the first album the best, when all the music was written before he got there. All he did was add lyrics and vocals over top of what they had already finished. That was Howerdel's brainchild.

No reason to compare the projects. I listen to Puscifer like it's anything... and it turns out to be trash :lol I understand it's subjective. Just hard to imagine listening to it and coming to any other conclusion.

Love, love, love Tool though. They are the only thing like them.

I know fvck all about anything technical concerning music. Just know what I like when I hear it. Sometimes it's stuff critics praise and sometimes it's stuff critics bomb.

I've not heard any of the new Tool stuff. Any opinion on that?

Yeah, Johnny Cash kinda transcends country. I can handle his stuff.

It's... dense. Every song is 10+ minutes, and there isn't much to grab a hold of at first listen. I have always found their music to be an acquired taste, and it feels like this album is a great example of that. Maynard's input also feels minimal, compared with their earlier works, ESPECIALLY 10,000 Days. Some of the vocals I find downright awkward.

I'm really not sold on it yet. I might end up loving it, or I might end up hating it. It's a very tough egg to crack.

Lateralus was their peak imo.

IDC if his music would technically be classified as country. Johnny Cash was a rock star.

but he's literally the definition of outlaw country. his songs are about being an outlaw...

rock is more about "we do drugs, sing in high cords and bang girls"

outlaws are more badass than rockstars

And I don't think you know the first thing about rock music.

not saying rock is soft, but it's not more badass than outlaw country or outlaw-themed music in general.

Yeah man! I like wale, seen him perform a couple times, once At Howard Homecoming.

It’s funny you said the type of country music you like is Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson because I grew up in rural MD so I’ve parlayed with many a white ppl.

When they ask if I like country music, I always respond -mainly Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson :applause:

Hard to rank the ones I've seen. I like all kinds of music and see a lot of shows from small clubs to massive arenas. For small venues acts like Of Montreal are cool for the pyrotechnics and attracting spaced out goth chicks. :oldlol: It's also cool to see older bands that were once much more popular. Recently saw the Psychedelic Furs and that show was pretty awesome.

As for the big arena shows I like artists that either go balls deep in blowing the place out (AC/DC, Metallica), or artists that actually make the venue seem more intimate (Bruce Springsteen, U2).

Speaking of U2 I saw them on my birthday in Toronto in 2017 and in Boston in 2018. Nice of them to schedule shows on my birthday. :D The Toronto show was the Joshua Tree 30th anniversary show and was a huge nostalgic spectacle. The Boston show was more intimate and didn't include any songs from the Joshua Tree. Both were great.

My favorite show was seeing Black Sabbath on their farewell tour with one of my best friends in 2016. We had a blast! The only thing keeping it from being absolutely perfect was Bill Ward not being on drums. But still Ozzy, Iommi and Geezer were all incredible! At one point, (what seemed like) the whole stadium started chanting “Ozzy! Ozzy! Ozzy!” It was so powerful.

It was - far and away - a Leonard Cohen concert. Thank god that scumbag manager finagled him out of millions, forcing him back on the road as a septuagenarian.

It was. It was at the Rogers center which has a retractible roof. It had rained earlier so the roof was closed for the opening act (the Lumineers) but the weather cleared up so they retracted the roof and it changed the entire atmosphere. You could see the CN tower lit up and the nice cool Canadian air just lifted everyone's spirits.

They opened on a small stage in the middle of the general admission area and played Sunday Bloody Sunday, New Years Day, Bad and Pride in the Name of Love. Then they moved to the main stage and played the Joshua Tree start to finish. They ended with a 7 song encore: Miss Sarajevo, Beautiful Day, Elevation, Vertigo, Ultraviolet, One and I Will Follow.

That's not a thing, obviously doesn't play guitar...prolly meant power chords is my best guess.

My favorite concert? Rage Against The Machine during their Battle Of Los Angeles tour at the House of Blues in LA. Moshed like no one's business. Metallica and Soundgarden during their Lollapalooza tour was badass...Megadeth at the House of Blues, literally 15 feet from the stage right in front of Dave Mustaine
