My problem with Kobe was never his skill level, which was obviously very high. The problem was that Kobe used his skills to make difficult shots, when he should have been trying to create easy shots.
You don't get extra points for degree of difficulty, and if you keep taking difficult shots, you might get some cool looking highlight reels, but you also end up with bad shooting numbers on average.

Lonzo Ball has a higher career 3pt % than Kobe does ....

Obviously that's not because Lonzo is a better shooter, it's because Kobe kept taking terrible shots.
