Actually have to double-check but I would assume it's up to teams to report their players' updated heights. So the teams are responsible for the accuracy, not the players.

There are very few legit 7 footers in the league. Most are "sneaker height" 7 footers and even that's often a stretch.

Even Shaq is probably just shy of 7' legit.

Shaq is 7 foot legit
Embiid is a legit 7'1

Previously NBA heights were in shoes, if this was last year, 5 years ago, or 10 years ago he'd be listed 6-7 or 6-8.

Players are measured with and without shoes at the combine. It was up to the teams how they wanted to list them.

I remember Iggy and Childress were the exact same height w/o shoes but Iggy was listed at 6'6 and Childress 6'8.

Barkley, Kobe and Jordan are all almost exactly the same height, they're all just under 6'5". Barkley is closer to 6'5" than 6'4".
