Where hes talked about as the best non all star guard?

Sam finally escaped when he was like 34 and had that one great year in Minnesota. Rod and Bibby never made it out.

Hes on a team that should win in the mid 50s....hes seen as the vet leader and primary difference....true or not. He does have the exciting young guard on his team to steal credit along with the overdue all star Gobert who may get in as the teams second guy if they get two. Not to mention Bojan who while not a star...is gonna need his shots.

Is 14/7 on good shooting as a steady vet leader gonna get him a "Finally...." spot?

Id like to see him make one eventually and I dont see him having a better chance than this. Not that the all star game matters that much....but I think it matters to them.

Have to be one of those "This team is too good for 1 all star..." things after none get voted in and coaches are choosing. Be a Tony Parker 17/6 all star over Dragics better numbers on a team nobody cares about kinda selection. Dragic was even all NBA. But not an all star.

It happens. Jazz are a second seed or so at the break? Coaches might give it to he and Gobert and leave Mitchell out with the narrative being hes having a down year when his numbers dip with the extra help but Conley getting "Vet leader" credit and the "Well he finally make it?" sympathy votes.

Not impossible.

Bojan is almost as big of a pickup as Conley but it's the subtractions that are the primary difference. Conley won't get in with 14 and 7. Their best player may get in as the 2nd guy! :lol

He can make it but not doing 14 and 7. He has to produce the same way he did last year and stay healthy (he's missed a lot of games over the last few seasons and that's a concern).

On a side note Harris got paid like that because Philly thinks they can win a championship with their core exactly as they are, so they aren't worried about having a flexible roster. What was crazy about Conley's deal is that Memphis has to have known they weren't contenders and they paid an almost (but not quite) All-Star like he was a superstar. It very much brought up the question of how much money is too much money to be paying a guy just because you're worried about how far you'll sink without him. And in theur case, largely due to injury, it didn't work out at all. Good guy, good player, but a terrible signing.

Youre right it was a big deal at the time but now? Hes 17th highest paid and will be even lower next year. It was just memphis seeing the cap explosion coming. He makes less deep into his deal this year than Harris makes starting his new one. He makes less than Kemba and Lowry. He makes Millsap and Middleton money. Not so bad now.
