Kobe was always known for taking "bad" shots...in the essence that most players couldn't hit those kind of shots consistently. The thing is, and here's the kicker you left off....he could. He could hit those shots consistently, and with them being such difficult shots they were difficult to defend.

The “tough shots” he was “so good at making” went in, at best, 1/3 of the time.

Youre right, he was better at those shots than most players. But.. that doesnt mean much. The point is to outscore the other team over the course of a game. Not to earn style points on high degree of difficulty.

The Celtics just wanted to change his shot selection. There's nothing wrong with learning from Bryant and trying to add from his skillset. Tatum will need the ability to play hero ball occasionally.
