Is the LA Lakers going to recover from this? Looking foward to your comments.

LeBron James is the best player in the world, he should be able to carry his team.

Crazy to think that without AD in the lineup the Lakers are a worse team then last year

Probably already going to miss time. It'll be the beginning of the season, Lakers will be cautious and sit him for the long run...so he can come back and injury himself around playoff time like he usually does.
about six weeks
How long does it take to recover from a sprained thumb? A mild sprain should heal in about six weeks if you wear a splint or cast and do rehabilitation exercises. A more serious sprain may take several months to heal before you regain most of your thumb's function again, especially if you had UCL surgery.

"Davis initially stayed in the game, getting the thumb taped during a break in the action, but then retreated to the locker room between the first and second quarters, and an ice pack was taped to his right hand.
If it was that bad, he probably wouldn't have stayed in the game after it initially happened.

It's one of those things where adrenaline hides the discomfort. I mean, he could probably play through it. I mean Kobe played with a torn ligament in his hand, but almost no one has the mentality of Kobe and Davis is a big baby and soft physically when it comes to injuries.

He should just stay in China. Perfect place for someone who likes other people to tell them what to do with their lives.

Aaaaaand there goes the excitement for opening night. Gonna get slaughtered by the Clippers without AD. :facepalm Not the kind of start we needed to our season. Hopefully he isn't out long.

Paul George isn't playing and Lebron has owned Kawhi his entire career. :pimp:

Really? That would make them a 7-8 seed with him playing all 82.

Clippers won't have Paul George either in this opening game so now it's fair. Lechoke vs Kaquit.

LA is the only contender, right now, who are an injury away from disaster.
Season hasn't started yet. Obviously. Lebron's age and attrition are more important than ever though.

The Lakers are old, they aren't going to be a juggernaut regular season team. They will be ideally a 5-6 seed (I expect the 5-8 seed to be VERY close for overall team records), and be FULLY HEALTHY for the playoffs.
Health > seeding for sure at this point.

And if they make the 2020 playoffs, that will be 2 years ago. And roughly 8k more minutes on LeBron's wear and tear.
That's like saying remember when that car drove good when it only had 50k miles? Gee, I wonder why it might not drive as well with 150k..... sh(t wears out.
And in NBA terms 2 years after your 30s is a lot of mileage, moreso if you are the main star for your team.

Lebron's had so much time to rest since then. Yeah mileage matters, but you give him time to rest and to work on his body and there's no reason he shouldn't be able to have another great stretch of basketball in the Playoffs. Lebron can wear down a little physically but he's still the same gifted playmaker he's always been and now he has a top 5 player in the league who can carry a lot of the load during the Regular Season.
There's a huge difference here. In 2018, he did a lot of the scoring in first halves by attacking the basket against smaller defenders and wore down by the end of games, now he can get the ball to Davis and Kuzma. Lebron doesn't have to be the 1st or even 2nd scoring option on offense in a lot of games, he can do most of the damage by facilitating and not allowing himself to take a beating in the paint.
Im so nba'd out
